For those of you who are anxiously stumbling upon this video as I did, this method really does work. Any lock that looks like this with the three digits will unlock using this method, so watch carefully. I used this to open my backpack and I was able to open it within a couple of minutes. Now I know how to open it when I forget the password! Thank you very much!

@@MelanieWellard They look for the correct position on each wheel of a number, by looking under the wheel. After they find the correct position on one wheel, they move on to the next number wheel, until they see all the correct positions on all the number wheels. After they have found the correct positions on the wheels, they have to find the correct positions in the lock itself, and they do this by turning all the wheels in unison, until they reach the correct position in the lock, and the lock opens.

First i looked at my suitcase. Didn't seem to find any ball bearings of that sort. But then i realized, you used the camera angle for a reason. So, did the same. Put a torch underneath the buttons and figured the mechanism. Found the key within seconds. Thanks man!

Tip: you get the same visual order in your lock and then move each by one until you get the right combination. For example if you get 3.5.9 when you set to the same visual order in the video, then try 4.6.0 and then 5.7.1 and continue this. I opened my in 3 minutes. Thanks for the video, was helpful hint :)
