After your two Coats of acrylic paint you put on the mod podge before the metallic paint?
@clairechapin69016 жыл бұрын
Beautiful piece. Great tutorial. Thanks! Was thinking of glittering the butterfly with German crushed glitter. Could I use modpodge for that as well?
@atorres94765 жыл бұрын
Beautiful and seemingly not very difficult. Thanks a lot! I am basically new at this. Last night I painted the first coat of acrylic paint and waited over a hour for it to dry. It was apparently dry but when I started the second coat it dragged the first one into a total mess. how long should I have waited? Thanks for your reply.
@2wings4ever5 жыл бұрын
You didn't do anything wrong, and I don't want you to get discouraged :) This happened to me as well. Please know, that acrylic paint has low adhesivity to the glass. Drying time was ok, just when you apply the second coat, the layer underneath gets some moist and doesn't hold well on the bottle. To avoid that there are 3 ways: 1 - while applying second coat don't overbrush; 2 - after first coat dries apply a coat of Mod Podge, it will create a protective film, and when Mod Podge dries you can apply another coat of acrylic paint with no problem; 3 - use a chalk paint instead of acrylic, it has high adhesivity to the glass. Hope that will help, and good luck!

Question, did you add another coat of the lighter paint after you put the crackle on? Tried to read comments and watched the video a few times but couldn't tell, sorry if this post has been posted and answered before. I just really liked the way it turned out and didn't want to mess up the steps. Thank you.
@2wings4ever5 жыл бұрын
Hi Camden, I remember that my camera didn't record a very important important step in that project. You are right: you have to put a lighter paint above the crackle medium. I made a special video for this technique, please watch 2 minutes of it kzbin.info/www/bejne/faWrhq18j7ajb7s... starts 2:22 until 4:30. All steps are clear on how and what to do. Good luck!

This is gorgeous, thank you for sharing. Can I ask please what varnish you recommend to seal it all?
@2wings4ever6 жыл бұрын
Any varnish that dries clear could be used. I use either Mod Podge or Minwax Polycrylic... and mostly matte or clear satin, not to look so shiny :)

Where do you your paper napkins from? I tried Michael 's and Dollarama.. couldn't get them..

I look for nice napkins at TJmaxx, HomeGoods stores. I also buy napkins on Etsy (online), they have a widest variety of nicest decoupage napkins.

@2wings4ever7 жыл бұрын
No dishwasher, for sure! :) The varnish coat is for protection but I would not recommend to sponge wash the bottle.

Very pretty but it does seem that mod podge darkens the colours a bit.
@2wings4ever7 жыл бұрын
Mod Podge normally gives a clear coat. What may darken is the background when you apply Mod Podge.. Thanks for watching and commenting, my dear!

*So very gorgeous!* I'm curious,....Exactly *what type of Mod Podge* do you use most of the time? There's so many types. Glossy, matte, etc. *Also, are there one or two projects you've shared* that people tend to prefer to give for Christmas gifts? Thank you for sharing. *Have a beautiful weekend.*
@2wings4ever7 жыл бұрын
I try to use not a glossy type of Mod Podge, sometimes I buy satine, sometimes matte. It still gives a nice shine. I plan to do some Christmas crafts in the nearest future and post videos but you can use any idea from any of my videos and apply winter-Christmas napkins. The fairy lantern is a good idea except pick up a different silhouette... it could be reindeer or an angel. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching my videos 🌷🌷🌷

Aren't you suppose to use a primer on the glass first? Otherwise paint will not adhere and chip off
@2wings4ever6 жыл бұрын
Georgie, you are right... a primer would be recommended. Acrylic paint doesn't have the best adhesiveness on the glass, but my bottles are for decor purposes so they do not peel or chip off. Chalk paint works both as a primer and a paint, and I use it for my decoupage works recently.

what mmeans of ducopage?
@2wings4ever7 жыл бұрын
Decoupage is type of crafting when you cover the object with pieces of paper or napkin, and then give several coats of varnish.
