I'm getting "Invalid BIOS image". Any suggestions? I have an x470 AORUS Wifi edition. Trying to update for the 5000 series CPU. I already attempted FW versions F60, F61, and F62

You probably solved it a long time ago, but in case someone in the future finds this comment, i had the same problem and this is how you solve it. Get the F31 version first and update to that one. It gives you better Q-flash compatibility. Then you can update to the most recent versions from that onwards.

yes but you have to update the bios to F40 and beyond. i just bought one that was allready for 3000 ready so i didnt need to update nothing! it works great. (Great choise if you want to save money not to buy X570 chip.

Beware updating the bios on this board. this board supposed to be bios crash free. but it's just the opposite. Also before doing anything. make sure you read the Rev # on the board. it can be Very confusing. and you could lose both the backup bios and the main bios. there are 2 Revisions to this board. Rev 1.0 and Rev 1.1

The rev 1.1 is for the Aorus X470 Gaming Wifi 7 which is a seperate mobo, not the Aorus X470 Ultra Gaming which is and always has been rev 1.0

There are more steps when you move to ryzen 5000 series. You must install a few revicisons and another program to get the f 50 revision to work.

When you are updating the bios do you have the hard drive disconnected or are you leaving everything plugged in as if you were going to boot normally and just hitting delete to pull up the bios?

You need just to update the bios on your mobo. Gigabyte already confirmed their b450 boards to run 3000s after f40 bios update.

ok, guys. You can buy b450 board like MSI tomohawk or gaming pro carbon, Gigabyte elite or pro, asus strix, asrock steel legend. You can expect support even for twelve core 3900x but in twelve core case you won't be able oc' it. If you want to wait and spend some extra, then wait for x570 release. @@avr4h Yeah, for the gigabyte x470 you will need to update to F31 first load into windows and run the EC FW Update Tool. I skipped the F40 and went straight to F41 then updated to F51 with no issues.

F40 is the most recent, but unless you intend to buy the new Ryzen 3000 series CPU's, stick to F31. Contrary to what this guy says, you shouldn't update your BIOS unless something is wrong with your system or you need a feature set that the BIOS provides.

Um all of this is in vain. You can go into bios in gigabyte app center and do this straight through the app easily without doing anything but restarting the pc after you do it. Simply save the bios file which is 50 right now and open it in the bios updater, done.

Unless there is a problem or things are not performing as they should, you don't need to update bios and you won't gain performance in doing so. Often times doing a bios update is a risky procedure so if everything works fine already then its not worth updating.
