The back has some scuffs and a small dent near the logo. There are a few tiny marks at the bottom of the front of the ipad but the condition of the screen is perfect. There are no scratches or anything. I was able to set it up, use it, and it charges fine. I'm hoping it continues to work well for me. So far it was worth the purchase. Also shipping was fast. I tried it on one of several iPad 2 and iPad 3 and it would not update in the final stage, the "iTunes Fix" sometimes suggested never worked either, as it never recognised the 16 download. As a result my iPads no longer show their iosx, just a stuck screen, and one of them will no longer verify, so is stuck. I really think if this only works on iPad5 + or iPad7 + you should tell us the early exempt models, if that is the case. I went to a lot of trouble and now my early iPads are WORSE.
