I am having a problem when I use FS relationship the next activity is starting same date as finish date of 1st activity

@stalluri11 yes FS means finish to start. Finish or first activity than start of next activity.

@stalluri11 Good question, Your first activity is finishing on 24 April 2023 may be 2 o clock or may be in morning 9 o clock or else. That's why in precise same day one activity is finishing and next is starting. The reason is simple . P6 is precise to schedule upto one minute Check the time of activities also Go to user preferences and time see the time option and turn on 12 or 24 format. See the activities have middle day timing or else but in same day dates.

Thanks for you lessons🙏 please, how can one assign same resource twice to a particular activity? For example, during painting activity and I want to assign to painters to this activity while I already created one painter resource. How do I assign two painters in this picture?

Same ID resource to an activity cannot be assigned. 2 painter means 16 hours you will assign double units to the resource. It means the same or go to user preferences and change units to days and than in resources change budget units / time to 2 nos / day than change duration type to fixed duration and budgeted units/time

@@SoftEdemy thanks for response so quickly. I made a progress update of activity started on 16 April. It has a FS relationship to next activity. When I click schedule next activity does not start at completion of 1st activity. Instead 2nd activity starts from data date.

@@stalluri11 If Successor activity have been assigned with FDS Relationship and on updating predecessor activity until 100 percent the successor activity will not start. May be possible your remaining duration is 0 . in case of 0 the successor activity will be schedule to start after data date. The other meaning i understood is that you are thinking that after completion of your first activity .The successor activity should be start updated. While updated manually you have to assign an actual start to each activity ,which have been started upto data date. If you did not started any activity whose predecessor is completed than it will be automatically start after data date earliest. if you want to automatically update the activity watch below linked video. it would help you to understand. @SoftEdemy if activity started on 16 April with 5 days duration. It should finish on 21st. The next activity should start on 22nd as there is FS relationship. Doesn't make sense in schedule the 2nd activity starts on dat date which is 16 April.

It's 3 year old video. May be at update datr at that time is 15 February . The update date is based on period of reporting like if weekly ends on Fridays than on Friday 4:00 PM and if months end then 30 pr 31st of month. I hope you understand. These reporting periods are predecided

How to put new data date without changing planned dates??

Planned dates are basically your baseline dates. Whenever you change your data date your current dates will movie accordingly if you haven't achieved your lookahead progress then there will be a negative float. Simply in your words, your current dates will vary from your planned dates. If your SPI is in the range of 1+or -0.25 and your schedule is realistic as per work then your revision of schedule is less otherwise you have to revise it every month. So the perfect answer to your question is that a perfect plan with targets achieve on time will not mismatch your planned dates with the current.

The easiest way to freeze your end dates is to apply the longest path filter and improve the Relationship and decrease the duration per activity until you achieve zero float. this practice can work only to decrease the 30 percent duration of your project. Further, you need extension time events and approval from clients with a new baseline schedule

Not matter but earned value is calculated on basis of performance percentage. And performance percentage or duration unit or physical percentage all of them
