@BernieHipos any chance you have a direct link to the V2.0? The 2.0 link in your description redirects to 3.0 and 2.0 is nowhere to be found. Seems the 3.0 removes 3rd party battery support (what a surprise).

@jamiejongkind1182, you're correct that the link redirects to 3.0. I looked for the 2.0 link and it's nowhere to be found. Maybe Sony took it down? I'm not sure why it's now showing up. Sorry, I have no answer for you. Yes, that's the downside of the 3.0 update. The battery percentage no longer shows on the LCD screen, particularly the SmallRig one which shouldn't be the case, and I really hope that Sony will revert it back in the next update. 🤞🏾

I'd suggest to hold-off for now until they figured out the issue. I was able to download it yesterday, but I'm glad I haven't installed it yet. Whew! ➡If you're updating to firmware 3.0 from version 2.0, you can straight away do it without the need for the other versions, and it's the same process in this video. ➡Also, if you have a SmallRig NP-FZ100 third-party battery, it will no longer show the battery percentage on the LCD screen after the 3.0 update. It is very dishonest of Sony not to mention that v3.00 disables monitoring of power from SmallRig batteries. Is there a way to force the camera back to firmware v2.00?😡

​@@petem1554, my thoughts exactly. I was surprised too and I'm like oh well, I guess I just have to deal with it moving forward. I am not sure if you can even revert back to firmware 2.00. Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. Hopefully, someone here was able to successfully do it and will share their experience. My only consolation with the 3.0 update is that I can use the Monitor & Control app, which is really nice. But again, Sony should've mentioned that the third-party batteries will be affected and won't show the percentage once updated to 3.0. @@BernieHiposthe problem with the app is that it does not support focus peaking or magnified focus so when using manual primes or zooms, it makes it very difficult to nail focus, especially while operating a gimbal.

@@petem1554, I hear you. But you know what, I actually forgot that the app doesn't have focus peaking or magnified focus at all. Haha... since I'm all for Sony's AF now. It's so good that there's no need for me to use manual focusing (I'm not saying that I won't use it at all since I still have a Canon FD lens with an e-mount adapter), especially when using a gimbal. I just let it do the work for me and it was one of the reasons why I switched from Lumix, but I totally get it and understand where you're coming from since not everyone uses autofocus. I was once a manual focus guy, but this time around I just utilize Sony's great AF and use it to my advantage, and let the camera do the work for me. I appreciate you sharing the info by the way.

After updating all my frame rates now have decimals rather than “true” fps e.g 60fps is now 59.97 any idea why?

@alvie00Alvie, it's totally normal and they've now allocated the number without the decimal point only for DCI 4K and true 24p recording after the 2.0 update. If you're not filming in a true 24p setting, you'll notice that your frame rate will appear as 23.98p, which is normal. Your camera is totally OK. Hope this helps. @danielsanchezm4808, as far as my experience goes, it will not. So far so good with the update except for the battery indicator when using the SmallRig third-party battery. After the 3.0 update, it no longer shows it. Just a heads up. Thanks for your question and for watching the video!

@valerio mazzanti, thanks for your question! For the 1.05 update, actually, no idea since technically my first major FX30 update is version 2.0. I just updated first to 1.05 for me to be able to update to 2.0. The SD card I used was the Lexar Professional 256GB and it worked very well. I don't know about other SD cards. For recording, you can either record in 1080p or 4K. I only record in 4K with the exception of some 1080p test footage. MP4 is different, it's a container format that stores video and audio, whereas 1080p is the resolution. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the video as well! 🙏🏽

I updated the firmware but it doesn't say 24p for my frame rate. Its still 23.??. Did I do something wrong? I went from 1.00 to 1.05 to 2.00 with no issues but I don't have true 24p. And ideas?

@@theangryronin2152, it will no longer say 24p since it’s now allocated when you film in DCI 4K and true 24p recording. Your camera is totally fine and will now show 23.98p after the 2.0 update. This is for NTSC and you’ll notice that too in 60p and is now 59.94p. For DCI 4K, you’ll need a faster card to access that feature. Hope this helps. @@NARRASSAFilmes, mine took only less than 2 minutes. Does the access lamp still blink while you're doing the update? At first, I didn't see it since I can't find where it's at, but it was at the bottom right corner of the FX30. It should blink if the update is ongoing. If not, might be the battery, do you have it fully charged before starting the update? Or it could be the file and it has to be loaded onto the root of the SD card like in the video, and the name should be BODYDATA.DAT. I hope you'll get it sorted out soon!
