How to Update the CabControl WiFi DCC System

The first of multiple updates for the ESU CabControl WiFi DCC system is now available on the ESU website. One of the highlights of this new 4.2.3 software is the ability to now be able to program on the main! Just a few suggestions. I am by no means a programmer, but just noticed a few possible improvements ESU might consider 1.) put the firmware file into CabControlUpdate folder before zipping it so that when unzipped, it can just be dragged onto USB stick. This will cut down on user frustration and incidents due to misspelling folder name or incorrect case sensitive letters. 2.) change the ICU OS firmware so that on startup, it first checks the USB port to see if the firmware update is present, if yes, it goes right into the firmware update (blink which ever light you want to indicate that) and restarts into normal operating mode. This will save the user the step of removing the cover and holding down the button to initiate the process.

Quick questions how do I reset the ICU? And what should I look for as far as lights flashing or some sort of notification that the system has been reset?

Now only if this didn't have so many stock issues and people could get their hands on it, then this video would be good for people.

Hi I got the ecos and having problems with a decoder I got a gaugemaster 21pon chip but says no loco on track is their any decoders I should be using

Hi Paul, Is this an ESU decoder with RailCom Plus? If not it may not self-register.

Hi Paul, An ESU decoder is not NEEDED but will be registered automatically. For non-ESU decoders, you can manually enter them. Pages 17-19 of the ECoS manual cover the many ways to add locomotives to ECoS.
