Just installed my ELEV8 and noticed that my iPhone with the iOS 17 update will not connect to Apply CarPlay, but people with iOS 16 had no problem connecting to my Apple CarPlay. Is this due to fireware?

I plug in my usb drive and press update but it says (there is no upgrade file) and i did everything right. (Solution!)- My usb stick was 64gb and it cant be read, it will read a usb stick32gb or lower. I got a 8gb one and was able to update.

I just went and got a 16gb and it still says that. Bought 64gb b4 I saw this comment. After got the 16gb still didn’t work. Wasting money at this point smh Update: tried downloading on a Mac. It needs google chrome as Safari gathers too much data when downloading. Installed chrome on my MacBook downloaded again from Stinger website and it worked flawlessly! Can I add new apps like KZbin and Netflix? Also is this unit setup to have internet? Just purchased it and haven’t installed it.

Apps are not able to be installed directly to the radio itself. They would be installed on the smart device you are connecting to the radio, and accessed thru Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The radio do not connect to or provide a WiFi hotspot.

You should always update your firmware when a new update is released. It's just like any operating system on a computer or phone. Whether it's bugs or UI improvements, there is really no reason to NOT update your firmware.

Legacy firmware is older firmware, used if you are having to roll yours back for some reason, or for troubleshooting purposes. The firmware on the NEW FIRMWARE tab is what should be used when updating to the latest version available.

Any way for me to remove icons off the home screen that were not wired during the installation and as such will never be used, such as hdmi?

Unfortunately, the source icons are not movable or able to be removed. They are static and part of the radio GUI.

Another solution would be to allow us to re-order them so that usable icons could be moved to the first page. Other than that, really loving the system. Thanks for the super quick response.

New firmware was released on 2-24-21. VERY DISAPPOINTED because the new firmware is not compatible with the Radio Installation Adapter (CH4A-JW18) firmware. It ALSO needs to have its firmware update which basically requires to be fully remove the headunit since you need a computer to update it and its strapped on via zipties. Very disappointed and regret spending over $2000 on this entire set up, only to have to repeatedly rip it out of my dash.

The CH4A-JW18 does require you to remove the screen to access, but you can leave it in the dash and update it while it is still in the vehicle. Just unplug the 3 pin power and plug in a micro USB to the module.
