How to UPDATE XBOX ONE OFFLINE with USB & Fix Green Screen & Black Screen Errors (Easy Method!)

Are you having problems with your Xbox one System Software and want to know how to download the file and update your xbox one with a USB Stick??? This can be helpful when your xbox one is having the black screen or green screen on start up. By launching your xbox one in the troubleshoot start up menu, you can factory reset the xbox one or offline update the xbox one from a USB stick. Updating your xbox one while offline can take awhile, this process for me took about 45 minutes, so make sure you have some time available. Also, make sure to format the USB stick to the NTFS format and have 6gb of free space. Than make sure to have no other files besides the system files in the USB folder otherwise this will not work. If you need a free Zip extractor check out breezip in the microsoft store.

I bought a new internal hard drive and installed it, then got error code 101 and after another reset I got an error code 106. I didn't realize that I had to download both files onto my usb. Once I did that the xbox worked like a charm. My son was so happy that I fixed it. I got tired of him moping around since Thanksgiving lol.

It didn't work initially, but I bought a new USB stick (Cruzer 16gb, $5 at Walmart), Completely redownloaded the update from scratch, and used a back USB port instead of the front. It works fine now, other than the startup video being gone. Just about 15 seconds of black screen and then it's to the home screen and working better than ever.

Brand new USB drive, format it properly and use it for nothing else before. 2. Fresh download of OSU1 from Xbox support site (it could have been updated because of the issue that bricked consoles that day?) 3. Used a back USB port, not front. It works as well as it ever has now, other than missing the startup video for some reason. Good luck!

So. The process. 1. Download the zip file to your computer. 2. Extract this zip file by using a program that does it. 3. Then plug in a USB stick that is at least 8gb in size that you already formatted to NTFS. 4. Then transfer the unzipped file to the USB storage device. 5. Plug in the USB device to your xbox and watch it not be recognized. Or one of many different things to happen based on a disaster only perpetuated. One example is no matter the zip program the file is corrupt or.. At this time I want to thank Microsoft for this. Windows was a real smart thing to do. Give us a game console with a computer OS that unlike a real computer we cant.. So smart. Amazing company.

Agree Shadow. The clue to what backwards clowns they are is not allowing easy access to the HDD like Sony has. Now, in 2021 they've crammed so much garbage into the OS for the Series Consoles that its ridiculous. My 1X lasted 3 years and of course it goes crazy with errors after one of MSFT's monthly OS updates. I'm so grateful to be supporting Sony as my main gaming platform. Their motto is "keep it simple stupid" which I think is the right way for a gaming console. I also dont think the Xbox hardware is very stable either.

If youre already at the troubleshoot page, you can just plug in the flash drive and the option to update should appear without having to reset. Update: if it don’t work the first time try again should work but don’t go to the option for offline update when u do that hard reset nah idk why I just restart the Xbox and power on again while the usb is in and it’ll start the download automatically or start update and sometimes it’ll show a barcode to scan for speedy profile login but don’t pay it mind just keep letting it update loading and stuff it’ll work fr I was shook after it went over 90 sum percent on the final load line or whatever!

My replacement hdd was inside an external so i used an old vanilla xbox one to reformat it as an external drive before removing the drive for an internal swap into my OneX. My 1X is trying to run the offline update(OSU1) which was followed correctly but my console just keeps stopping about five seconds into the update install with an error code. Just ordered a Series S for my frustrations. I really dislike how xbox handles their OS and hardware

This is an old comment, but make sure the thumb drive is USB3 (has the blue plastic on the inside). USB 1 (white) or 2 (black) will not work. This vid didn't fix my problem, but it at least read the drive when I used a USB3.

Guys i fell asleep late one night after raising baby gigas on ark for hours and when i went to log on the next day i got hit with a error e106 i was devastated , watched guides etc for days thought i could never fix it but i switched gears n decided not to sledge hammer it n decided t9 try the usb. I had no idea what i was doing on god , tried the osu1 file downloaded but i hit the red extract button on the top of my computer screen in the file page n after the last step my xbox wouldnt recognize it felt so depleted n dumb for a few secs than decided to redownload the file and Follow his steps exactly n exactly like him. Plug it back in n nothing for a few secs lowered my head than went to give the tv one last look n boom the offline update popped up . Now im redowbloading ark after going through the reset :) im so happy atm tysm honestly you are a legend n to anyone with this problem you can fix it too :)

FWIW, you don't need a tool to extract the file. Windows has the ability to extract zip files (which is what these update files are).

I have the same problem but when I plug in my usb flash drive the xbox doesn't detect it, did you have the same problem?
