I have to let everyone know there was a small mistake in the notation on the original post of this video. So i corrected it and uploaded again. I hope you all can comment on the video so it gets moving again. Many greetings to all!

Lol I thought you didn't like some of the comments that were posted, no worries! I love your explanation of the 3 bar cycle. Now that I know what to listen for, I can hear it in all kinds of music not just jazz. With the knowledge of cycles in drumming you can create drum parts that are multilayered & not just simple time keeping, nothing wrong with good time keeping, but to layer rhythms around good time is even better. I look forward to the new book you are creating & yes Phil I love all the cool things you teach about drums & rhythm, keep up the great work!!

@@philmaturanodrums Yeah I knew something was up, as you work very hard to get your videos out to us! Too bad that KZbin doesn't let you save the comments when you re-upload a video.

Phil I really had to laugh when you said..."if this is you", then you played a really dry, boring, lifeless jazz swing pattern with no soul at all!! This is your drums...this is your drums without cycles...this is what keeps you from getting a gig :)
