I have NP300E5X running as an Ubuntu server. I upgraded Pentium B970 to i7-3620QM. Temperatures are fine (idle @ 34 degrees celsius), but laptop runs only for 20 minutes and so and then shuts off. I have tried with different RAM combinations (4GB of 1333MHz, 8 GB of 1600MHz) but still the same. Has anyone with this laptop had similar problems, and if yes, then how did you solve it?

That depends on the chipset your motherboard has. if you have a hm75 or 76, you can upgrade up to a core i7, but if you have the hm70 or oldest you can only up to another celeron or pentium.

I had the same laptop too, a NP300e5c from 2013, with i3-2370 and 4gb RAM, and I upgraded the RAM memory from 4gb to 8gb, HDD changed to SSD Kingston 480gb (the HDD has been setting as slave disk in the CD space) and finally, I replaced the i3-2370 to i7-3540 that I bougth the processor from Aliexpress

советую купить i7-2630qm, но использовать с выключенным турбобустом на базовой частоте 2ггц. Получите 4 ядра, 8 потоков и не будет перегрева. А чтоб еще более ускорить ноутбук, то под диск С купите SSD 120-240GB (sata-lll, 2.5" 3D TLC), HDD (диск Д) перенесите в слот DVD через переходник CADDY. По чипсету и сокету подходят еще процессоры i7-2620m, i7-2640m, но они в турбобусте сильно горячие, а по цене такие же как i7-2630qm. У меня был процессор i5-2520m и то грелся под 90*С, а эти i7 еще горячее.

@@slgv проще вариант. Заходите в Панель Управления -> электропитание. Там установите режим "сбалансированный". Потом рядом пункт "настройка плана электропитания" -> изменить дополнительные параметры электропитания -> управление питанием процессора-> минимальное состояние процессора от сети и батареи поставьте 0%, максимальное состояние процессора от сети и батареи - 99%. Как установите i7, то нанесите равномерно тонким слоем хорошую термопасту на весь кристалл, прочистите от пыли радиатор и можно разобрать и смазать вентилятор не густым машинным маслом (пару капель). Потом сделайте стресс-тест в AIDA64 (галочки на стресс CPU, FPU, cache) минут на 30 и следите за температурой. Если пойдет температура больше 90*, то выключите стресс-тест и максимальное состояние процессора сделайте 90-93%. В принципе можно и оставить 99%: в обычных условиях таких нагрузок на процессор нет. Я использую термопасту GD007 - недорогая и теплопроводность хорошая

В интернете и просмотре фильмов можно турбобуст и включать - поставите в питание процессора вместо 99% -> 100% и турбобуст включится. Какая то работа или игра - снова выключать. В общем поиграйтесь с настройками. У меня тоже процессор i7-2760qm и тоже юзаю без турбобуста. Тоже так вначале думал включать и выключать турбоуст, а интернет и фильмы и игры идут отлично и на частоте 2.4ггц, так чего заморачиваться? правда я купил SSD Samsung 860 EVO 250GB - может поэтому еще все летает ) после i3(4гб оперативки и HDD 500GB) вполне все классно работает. Сделал оперативку 12гб и поставил SSD и i7. Как установите i7 то пишите свои наблюдения. В принципе вам должно хватить и 8гб оперативки. А SSD лучше купить хотя-бы дешевый, типа Silicon Power A58 128GB, SSD Team GX1 120GB

трубка охлаждения там короткая и на ней стоят процессор и видеокарта. Чтоб процессор i7 (4 core) работал без перегрева, лучше видеокарту отключить в биос. Даже иногда турбобуст отключают, чтоб снизить нагрев, и прирост за счет 4 ядер/ 8 потоков. И вы проверьте какой чипсет у вас - HM65 или HM76, это тоже важно при замене процессора.

@@samuelsarinho Samsung laptops have poor cooling, and if the i7 processor heats up under load above 90*C, then I advise you to turn off the turbo boost and use the processor at a base frequency of 2.2GHz. // I also replaced the i3-3120m processor with an i7-3612qm in my Asus x55vd laptop. My laptop has weak power circuits on the motherboard. I turned off the turbo boost on the processor so that the power circuits did not burn out and I use it at a frequency of 2.1 GHz. I installed 12GB of RAM and a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD - the laptop is very fast and works well, despite the lack of turbo boost. In games and stress test, the processor temperature is about 70-72*C. Therefore, you will not lose much if you have to turn off turbo boost

This video didn't say anything about the requirements for upgrading computer parts. So, here's what I've learnt. First, you need to know what computer parts you wanted/needed to upgrade. For instance, CPU. Second, get to know what motherboard you're using. There's plenty of web searches about almost entirety of motherboard even for laptops! So, do a little research on type of motherboard. Third, get to know what is the motherboard supported CPU. Not all CPU is compatible with any motherboard. There's changes of architectures in both the CPU and the motherboard due to new technology implementation. So, be really careful on this so that you don't have to waste money on parts that doesn't even work for your laptop. EDIT: Also, be really careful because now, laptops are changing their modularity of the CPU, where laptops will have a soldered CPU instead. Get to know whether your laptop can be upgraded or not.

If you need an i7 processor, then buy an i7-2630qm (4 core) processor, but use it without turbo boost at a base frequency of 2GHz. The performance will be good. The i7-2630qm is priced equal to the i7-2620m, but colder and more cores.

ya viste la ficha técnica de cuánto consume la placa de tu pc? yo quiero hacer lo mismo ya que mi procesador es un Celeron y va lento pero puede que a esos que se les apague sea por el voltaje, como son portátiles no deben de consumir tanto y ya vienen predeterminados pero no creo que eso afecte en tu caso, solo es ver si el i7 no consume más voltaje que el i5

install the cpu-z program on the laptop. On the first tab, look at the processor model and socket type. On the "Mainboard" page, look at the type of the south bridge.

@@assortedvideos2471 what processor is in the laptop? install the CPU-Z program in the laptop and on tabs 1 and 3 look at the socket type (rPGA988 or BGA1023) and which south bridge -> HM65, HM70? HM77?

M having issue of sudden shutdown, processor temp reaching till 80C along with High disk usage despite disabling telemetry. Thinking of replacing processor, cleaning heat sink and installing SSD. Need ur suggestion.

Too much thermal paste and you should have cleaned the fan it is so dirty . Very slappy job .

@@georgekevorkian there is no point in installing i7-2640m - you will not see any difference between i5 (2 core) and i7 (2 cores) in performance. You can install an processor i7-2670qm, i7-2720qm (4 core/ 45w), and to avoid overheating of the i7 processor, use it without turbo boost at a base frequency of 2.2 GHz.. If the laptop has 8-12-16GB of RAM and SSD 240-256GB, sata-lll, 2.5, (drive C) then even without a turbo boost, the i7 processor will work quickly thanks to 8 threads.
