How to Upgrade/Replace your Headlights with Euro Smileys - BMW E34

G'day everyone! In this video, I show you how to replace the headlight assembly on a BMW E34. I'm Australian, so I got the fancy euro smiley headlights OEM, but this video can also be used to show how to upgrade to euro smileys (if you're an American). you are supposed to push down those kidney grill clips from above. Theres a hole at each side of headlights from the top, you need a pretty long screwdriver to push them down.

I just did this on my US spec '91 525i but I upgraded to projector lights from the stock uglies, big difference in light output. I do wish they had those adjustable headlights here...

Nice video and explanations mate !! What about the new replacement quality ? Were they DEPO ? I'm looking to upgrade, and OEMs are too expensive or too bad shape, and HELLA and other known brands are quite expensive as well. I'm about to buy some Diedrichs, a DEPO manufacturer, and I'm worried about the quality. Thanks in advance.

Does that apply to the 1989 535I, cause that car looks like a 540, which is similar, also do you have a video on what to do if the front doors don*t open, somebody told me it could be the weatherstripping that somehow has created this problem, please if you can help me, all the doors are open they are not locked.

G'day mate - really great video tutorial for we RHD 540 owners looking to work on our own cars. You mention that the adjuster motor snapped off as a common problem - how does this happen? Is the part just under-engineered?

I suggest removing the bumper cover too when doing this (Really easy). Cause if you are not careful you can scratch the top of the bumper with the grill when removing it

The lens can't remove, it's one peace each head light. In best case you can replace each head light, bud this also tricky.

An awesome car to drive! Very comfortable but somewhat sporty at the same time, especially for such an old luxury sedan. Beautiful V8 sound and plenty of power! The ultimate sleeper. You can see it in my channel. I sold it more than a year ago. :(
