EXCELLENT instructional video!!! I just bought an ES1-531-C6FQ, mainly because our old ACER bit the dust and this was the cheapest one I could find. But this is definitely a slow machine with Windows 10, so I'm going to upgrade to 8 GB of RAM. Thanks for the video, Rich.

I want to commend you on your video. I just used it to install 8GB RAM in an Acer Aspire ES1-512-C12D laptop in about an hour. It wasn't exact but it got me through the touchy parts like pooping the clips to open the laptop and the slide locks on the ribbon cables. I couldn't have done it without you. For folks with an ES1-512, there are a few distinct design differences that actually make it easier than demonstrated by the video. Just proceed slowly and carefully, especially with the cables, and it should go well.

I watched this video as I couldn't find a 'how to' for our Acer 411 model...glad to say the 411 upgrade was much less involved, but this video helped along the way with how to open the bottom carefully and how to remove current memory card. Thanks!

Excellant as always. -- Acer laptop.. highly recommended. Personally, I see little need for upgrading the RAM, although an SSD seems a great idea after another 2-3 yrs.

Easy to follow instructions. The tasks looked daunting at first but I did it. Thank you!

Thanks for your video... I ran into a few roadblocks... some of the connectors flipped up instead of having those slider releases, but I figured it out and got it back together and it worked perfectly. Thanks again.

the ribbon cables that are under the keyboard are connected to ZIF sockets (zero insertion force). the 3rd cable you did not want to disconnect is a flip up type you don't push each side you just flip it up like its on a hinge.

+tekgeek Thx. Yeah don't lean on the cable. Swing the black plastic runner along top up.

Excellent video, I want to change for ssd disk and RAM. A question, you can change the processor? and what kind of processor supports the plate ?. Thank you very much.
@RichReviews9 жыл бұрын
+Juan Acevedo No, the processor is not replaceable. I have never seen a laptop with a replaceable processor.

Thanks!!!! pretty useful I follow the video and upgraded the ram and everything run ok, perhaps If we find the way to disconnect the flat cable that remains connected will be more easy to get the job done, having the keyboard panel out of the way completely

Hey man, thanks for putting up those videos. Im still doing my research on what laptop to buy and I'm probably choosing this acer - my question to you: is there some significant difference in changing the ram/hdd to ssd with the 13 inch model? Have a nice one!

Great job. Worked on HPs and they are easier but this was a bit tricky. Good job!

You should tape yourself changing the ram in the asus x200 that you reviewed a while ago. That would be cool since its a touchscreen. Can you do that?

I have a similar laptop like this but the ES1-531 series with the Pentium n3700 quad core Braswell cpu. What are your load times on the SSD? I recently upgrade my 1TB HDD to a 256GB Samsung PM810/470 Series SSD and the load times are so good. 12 seconds from a cold boot and 3 seconds from awake from sleep. 260MB Read and 250 Writes on 4K alignment is so darn good. SATAII though so it's max at 300MB/s Theoretical speeds :/ I wish I can upgrade to sata III 6gbps to get that juicy 500-600MB SSD's

The cable that should not be separated came off and now I can't get this thing to get power. Me and my clumsy hands have done it again. :( I have a few weeks to get it back running before my panic will really begins. EDIT**: Had that same wire backwards and now everything is all good. Thanks for the video man.

+FalloutFTW There is only one RAM slot, but it is still upgradeable if you use the RAM module I linked in the description and follow the instructions in the video.

+Rich Reviews Oh cool. I thought I had the Aspire ES1-511 but I checked my laptop and mine is a ES1-521 which has 2 ram slots. Luckily its the same as yours when taking it apart I probably would of broke it if it wasn't for you. Thanks! so much!
