Very well shot and described. Acer & other companies that design their PC's like this should be ashamed for making it so difficult to replace simple components like RAM & hard drives.

helpful tip: if you are installing a new SSD, make a recovery USB stick FIRST. not an ISO download online or whatever, a recovery drive from your old hard drive if it's still in operation. this video inspired me to do the swap. you make a recovery USB from the acer recovery management tool that's on your old hard drive, (if it's operational). install new SSD, put together, insert USB, hold F2 down while pushing power button. bios pops up. go to boot, select USB that has your USB installed. will boot from USB with recovery data. restore system. no need for product key. will install same version of windows but with 0 files. clean slate. it does start faster now with no fan noise. I felt a sense of accomplishment when I was all up and running. thanks Mr. Rich.

+Thor Velasco Thanks for the helpful comment. That sounds like a quick and easy method to get up and running with the new SSD. A method that will move all apps and files along with Windows itself would be to first put the SSD into an external enclosure like the one I linked to in the description below the video, then clone the original hard disk onto the SSD. Then install the SSD as shown in this video, and you're done. Both SSDs I linked to below the video come with cloning software.

Excellent video, thanks dude. It helped me upgrade to a SSD for the Acer ES1-512 and the old HDD was easier to get at than this model. After installing the new SSD, the computer wouldn't boot up. I just had to disconnect the internal battery from the motherboard by sliding out the cable connector, then reconnect and BINGO! Thanks a million.

by the way, best method to open this laptop is plastic credit card. because even plastic tools leave marks and dent on the body. Opened mine with a card in just a few seconds, like butter. =)

Woah... I bought this laptop just 3 weeks ago (partly on your review)... and was thinking just a few days ago, that eventually I'll look to swap out the HDD with an SSD. Perfect follow up to your original review. -- *Great laptop, I can't fault it... certainly, an SSD would merely be a great upgrade in 1-3yrs.

Can I make a suggestion? Invest in some plastic pry tools. I got like 100 of them for a few bucks. No marks on case or dings from the screwdriver. Just my .02 cents on the video. Otherwise good!

I've read from a guy at Amazon that you could install an additional internal HDD due to the laptop not having an optical drive... Is that true?
@Abelius9 жыл бұрын
To be more specific, is there a second Power/SATA connector in there so you could plug a HDD without any special tricks?
@iirmantass39 жыл бұрын
Abelius Yes you can, but you need to get HDD caddy that will fit in dvd drive bay slot and install your second hdd there.

Does CPU keep up with ssd? Have you update to windows 10?
@RichReviews9 жыл бұрын
+Nikola Bosnjak An SSD will use your CPU more efficiently, since the CPU won't spend as much time waiting around for the hard drive.

Do you know if I use a Kingston instead of crucial, will it be compatible ?! Thx
@RichReviews9 жыл бұрын
+Alexandre trépanier Yes a Kingston or any other brand will work as long as it's a 2.5" SATA drive. I recommend the Samsung 850 since it is high performance and is the best bang for the buck right now. I put a link to it in the description below the video.

+Rich Reviews hey i got the same model 2 years ago but i recently got overwatch, it runs well but can it run even better? since overwatch requires at least a core i3 or i5 (idk) and 4GB RAM to Run. could it run on an Intel Celeron Processor N2830 with 8 GB RAM and that SSD, could this computer run even better than a core i3 laptop with these specs? its that i got it 2 years ago when i was 13 years old (lol im 15 and already a computer geek XD) and i wasn't such a computer geek 2 years ago and i bought it blindly, and i noticed my mistake and desided to start learning about computers and there processors, Hard Drives, RAMs, stuff like that. since now i found this video and the other video, this pc will finally get the upgrade i wanted thanks X3 Btw i'd like to thank my dad for helping me learn these things lol

wrong, wrong, wrong, you need to use guitar picks or credit cards to separate the case.
