How to Upgrade the REBEL ARMORY Starter Deck - Magic Arena

Today we're upgrading the REBEL ARMORY starter deck on Magic Arena! it's a Boros equipment deck, which isn't really a competitive archetype, but we can still improve this deck a lot by jamming some For Mirrodin equipment and a new beefy payoff! :)

This deck did alright, went 14-13 in standard, unranked, best of 1. Interestingly did much better on play (67% win rate) than on draw (38% win rate) for whatever reason. Never been that big a fan of equipment decks but these mod suggestions I think really help improve this deck a lot, thanks!

My best deck, went on a 6 win streak and finaly made diamond on alchemy ❤ Edit: didn't realize that alchemy was poo poo, so I'll be trying out standard xD luckly my alchemy version has like only 5 cards illegal in standard 😅

If you where to take all your upgraded starter decks through the years and put them against each other, do you think you would have a balance game? I’ve considered getting all these decks in paper to play with my brothers.

I wouldn't think so, I upgraded them all individually some some decks would have more powerful commons/uncommons to add than others, plus some years might have had more powerful cards than others. However, Cardkingdom sells "battle decks" and they are all designed to be played against each other. They're only $12 each so very affordable as well. tnks Im learning a lot about mtg through your videos!, but I dont get why you dont consider "hexgold hoverwings" important for this deck, since its the only answer for flying creatures or to attack with a flying creature

It's fine, just a little slow. It's basically a 4-mana 3/2 flyer, which is pretty bad, and the equip cost is a little high at 3 mana. There are lots of really good flyers you could play instead, but I couldn't add them because they are rare. Like Cloudsteel Kirin or Manaform Hellkite. Even Guardian of Ghirapur is decent, you can exile equipment that's not equipped, and it will return and make another 2/2 token.

Hei thanks for the video, I have copied to clipboard and made the deck but it says is invalid for playing on Spark Ranked as deck is set to Standard and if I want to change to Alchemy, it says there are 5 non-format cards. I am totally new on MTG arena just won my first 3 wins on Starter deck challenge so I don't even know what standard or alchemy is, could you please help? thanks

Yeah, alchemy is a weird Arena-only format that new players get stuck in until you unlock Standard. Unfortunately, this is new this year and I wasn't aware of it when I made these guides, so I'll have to communicate that more clearly next year when we get new decks. In the meantime, you should unlock Standard eventually after you play spark/alchemy enough. Sorry for the confusion!

@@AffinityforMTG Any suggestions for what to use instead of Rabbit Battery in the meantime? This is the card that blocks you from playing as a new player.

Copied and pasted to clipboard. Says this deck has 5 cards that are invalid for STANDARD, so deck not usable. Forwarn before crafting and wasting crafting materials.........I got screwed.

Arena doesn't auto-craft cards when you import them, so it shouldn't have used crafting materials. As for illegal cards, can you specify which ones? The deck is certainly Standard legal, but I'm curious if there is an issue with importing. In the past flip/cards would often break the Import feature for example.

And i cleared the bronze alchemy tier, which seemed to unlock all the options of the game including standard ranked!!!! the deck 100% works there!!!@@AffinityforMTG
