but of course! Why didn't I think to cut the old fabric diagonally from the middle. I struggled all afternoon taking the tacks off first! Lateral thinking. Thanks a very instructive video. Now to put my chair together again.

This is wonderful work and you made it look easy. I am new and bought amazing chairs that need to be upholstered. Can you share what tools you used? Can you use something other than a glue gun? Is there something to stitch up the binding to chair? Thanks.

Great job, thanks, I can do this, I was concerned about the back inset cording but it looks like it is a double cording, with the raw edge on the back of the double cording.
@LindaCollier-w4t7 ай бұрын
How do you make the covered cording, is it a double cording? I know it must be send with a machine

I use a double welt foot. Personally, I do the first welt single then use the double

I don’t quite understand how you dealt with the cut out corners on the seat back. This is the only video I have hound with chairs like these, like mine. I have rewatched in slo mo but can’t quite see how you deal with this issue.

Beautiful. I am going to upholster a friends old Grandmothers rocking chair which has had the wood painted years ago. (Dark brown). The wood looks to be a beautiful pecan. Where the paint has rubbed away, the chair is beautiful. The brown paint is gummy and stinks. What can I clean this wood with?
@MarksUpholstery2 жыл бұрын
May need to use a paint stripper. I’m not a refinisher, but I’d start with that, then evaluate a second coat before sanding
Thank you for the video this is exactly what I have .. how do I know if I need to replace the foam cushion? It’s an antique chair that feels like the cushion is in great condition but idk if there’s dust etc all in the foam from being so old?
@MarksUpholstery11 ай бұрын
If it is a loose cushion, you would see a fine yellow dust on the decking underneath. If it’s a tight seat, the yellow dust would be trapped or falling out of the bottom dust cover. Either way, once you are dissatisfied with the cushion, I would replace it.

Nice job of lining up the stripes on the back with the stripes on the seat. I think I mention that every time you do a stripe. P.S. - Not sure I would ever want to walk around your shop without shoes. Do you ever leave there with staples stuck to the bottom of your shoes? Lol
