Where should I place the watering ring on a newly planted tree - directly over the root ball or where the backfill meets the root ball, or at the drip line (widest reach of the branches)? The trees were planted a few weeks ago. They're 6 foot tall "green giants". Root ball approximately 20" across. Burlap removed from top of root ball, left on sides of root ball. Zone 6a. Thank you.

FAIL! what is the coverage of one hole? if the holes are 6" apart it seems to me the loops around the tree would need to be about 12" apart and starting near the trunk in concentric circles out to the drip line. you are leaving most of the plant without water. very poor explanation from sprinkler warehouse.
