18-0-1 GreenePunch™ is the cornerstone for our fertility program. In this video, Paul will go over the different application rates for both warm and cool season turf grasses. He will also touch on way we recommend applying this particular liquid fertilizer with the Ortho Dial n Spray Hose End Sprayer.
18-0-1 GreenePunch™ Lawn Fertilizer is the Nitrogen foundation product of the N-Ext™ Full Liquid Fertility Program. Recommended application rates of 18-0-1 GreenePunch™ vary depending on turf types.
18-0-1 GreenePunch™ Lawn Fertilizer is engineered to be a complete product for all varieties of turfgrass. It is formulated to produce a quick green-up response and maintain consistent color for 6-8 weeks.
18-0-1 GreenePunch™ will produce a strong root mass which will grow deeply into the soil. It will stimulate soil activity necessary for building sustainable fertility.
For DIY use, 18-0-1 GreenePunch™ Lawn Fertilizer is the recommended Nitrogen product for every lawn application. 18-0-1 GreenePunch™ is not recommended for non-irrigated lawns during periods of drought stress.
A good blueprint for 18-0-1 GreenePunch™ Lawn Fertilizer applications to cool season grasses is:
Early Spring - 20 to 24 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Spring - 18 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Summer - 12 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Summer - 12 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Fall - 18 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late fall - 20 to 24 ounces per 1,000 square feet
A good bluepring for 18-0-1 GreenePunch™ Lawn Fertilizer application to Bermuda and Saint Augustine grasses:
Late Winter - 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Spring - 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Spring - 18 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Summer - 18 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Summer - 18 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Fall - 18 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Fall - 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Winter - 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet
A good blue print for 18-0-1 GreenePunch™ Lawn Fertilizer application to Zoysia and Centipede grasses:
Later Winter - 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Spring - 12 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Spring - 6 to 9 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Summer - 6 to 9 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Summer - 6 to 9 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Fall - 6 to 9 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Late Fall - 12 ounces per 1,000 square feet
Early Winter - 16 ounces per 1,000 square feet

Great job on all the break down! I have a 31 gallon sprayer for my zero turn and I have my prodiamine and Triad Select ration down as I have around 68k Sq foot I'm taking care of. So if it takes me 5 times filling up my pull behind sprayer(31 gallons of water each time equaling a total of 155 gallons of water for the entire 68k Sq foot) how much GreenePunch would I mix in each 31 gallons of water?? This is the worst part of it all figuring the mixture up. Just subscribed BTW Edit: so if I fill up 5 times with the 31 gallons, looks like I'm covering 13,600 Sq ft with each tank

If dilution at 7:1 you could use a backpack sprayer right? So I can mix .875 gallon of water per 16oz. That would be .875 gallons of mixed product per 1000 sqft (ex my yard 7500 sqft so I would spray about 6.5 gallon of mixed product on my lawn and get the same result) Let me know if my math is correct because I would like to use a back pack sprayer.

If you’re using the hose end sprayer does it matter if you fill it with water. I sprayed 18-0-1 and i did not dilute the product. Hope it doesnt burn the lawn. I did a low rate of 12 oz per 1,000sq ft.

I looked up the price for gallons containers since I have several acres of lawn and I will need to reapply 4 to 6 weeks in duration. So I would need 640 ounces (5 gallons) per acre of lawn for what price? I found $135 for 5 gallons @ 1 acre of lawn. I like that it has kelp and humic in it too. Maybe be cheaper to use a sulfur coated slow release granular (8 to 12 weeks duration) and supplement with Chelated iron or Ferrous sulfate (4 to 6 week duration) for green ups. I tried the liquid lawn food and while easier and direct feeding into the lawn, it comes at a high price.

I'm new at this but how does the oz per 1000 square feet work with a hose end sprayer? Does the number on the dial correlate with the ounces?
@NExtDIYLawn
@NExtDIYLawn 5 жыл бұрын
Great question. No, the dial does not correlate with the number of oz. you put into the hose end sprayer. The hose end pumps out 2 gallons per minute. Rule of thumb is 1 gallon of water will typically cover 1,000 square feet. So, 2 gallons should take you 2,000 square feet. If you set the hose end sprayer to a setting of 3 oz., it will spray out 6 oz. of product in about 1 minute over 1,000 square feet. Hope that all makes sense and helps. - Castleberry
@gramps5157
@gramps5157 3 жыл бұрын
@@NExtDIYLawn Yes the number on the dial of the hose end sprayer does correlate to ounces. That's what those numbers are there for, to tell you how many ounces of product you are putting down per gallon of water coming out of the hose end sprayer. Correct, right?

If I'm putting down 8oz/1000sqft on my centipede lawn; that would mean I would need 1.25 gallons of water per 8oz. If I put down 18-0-1 in 2000sqft increments, I would need 16oz (8oz x 2) of concentrate with 2.5 gallons (1.25gallons x 2) of water. Would a 4 gallon backpack sprayer be ok for this if I also have an irrigation system to water it in afterwards? Or should I stick with the Ortho?

@NExtDIYLawn 5 жыл бұрын
Don't go by those recommendations. Using RGS, Humic12, Air8 and 0-0-2, you are building a better soil profile to extend the use of the Nitrogen that you will give it. Hence the N-Ext name. Nitrogen Extension! That is also why the Nitrogen input is so low in 18-0-1 GreenePunch. Using that fertilizer in conjunction with the other products, the 1/4 pound of N you are putting down with the GreenePunch is going to get stretched further and be utilized for a lot longer. Make sense? Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions. Happy to help. - Castleberry

Why can't I just put 2.5 gallons of water in my pump sprayer? I never want to use a hose end again. A 20 min enjoyment turns into an hour and 15 min of irritated work. I need a long hose and it gets tangled and then kinked and the sprayer stops sifening and I have no idea where it left off spraying and if just water came out for a while and don't want to double up in areas to compensate. * Why can't I just instead of putting 16 oz in one spray; Why can't I cut that in half and spray 8 ounces twice. Fill the sprayer up with 2 gallons twice?? Shouldn't that work just as well? Or since some apps of grn punch call for 20 oz, just spray 10 oz twice??
@NExtDIYLawn
@NExtDIYLawn Жыл бұрын
You absolutely can, you need to be sure to water in the products afterwards. Hose-end sprayers provide the best dilution, but using pump sprayers can work well. The other thing to consider is the consistency of the spray. Pump sprayers can lead to inconsistent applications and lead to streakiness in the lawns color.

Hello! Just put down 18-0-1 with my Chapin sprayer few days ago, watered it in. Question is about areas that appear a dark brown color from it, as though you took a marker to the grass, will this quiet down?? Thanks.

You don't have enough room in the backpack to do more than 1,000 square feet at a time. In order to maintain the 20:1 dilution of (water to product) you need 240 ounces of water for every 12 oz of 18-0-1 GreenePunch. Or, 1.9 gallons of water for every 12 ounces of 18-0-1. Make sense? - Castleberry
@31acruz

@@NExtDIYLawn I am ok doing 1,000 sq at a time. So you are saying 12 oz per 1,000 sq = Mix 12 oz per every 1.9 gallons or 6.3 oz per gallon? to achieve the 20:1 dilution ratio?
@NExtDIYLawn

S. Spooner. It’s also important to calibrate your speed with a boom sprayer. The speed that you travel and release product on lawn will determine how much you will need and the coverage that it will take. Hope that makes sense.

if one has a good 5 acres of clean cut grass, to drag a hose around the property is just pure lunacy. Using a backpack spray system is what one has to do with such a large area, or a walk behind push sprayer as shown in vid.

I’m new to this and my maths may all be wrong but can you tell me how much nitrogen is in your concentrate. You say the fertiliser is a 18:0:1. So 18% of the mix is nitrogen. The label says a gallon weighs 10.58 lbs. So 10.58 x 0.18= 1.14 lbs . So there is only 1.14 lbs pure nitrogen in one gallon. The label says measure 6 ozs of the concentrate and dilute it 7 times and spread over a lawn area of 1000 sq feet. 6 ozs of your concentrate contains 1.14/128 (ounces in a gallon) x6=0.053 lbs. so we take 0.053 lbs and spread it over 1000 sq of our lawn. My maths must be crazy so maybe you could show me how much nitrogen is in your product. You advise 16 ounces of nitrogen / 1000 sq ft which would match the norm of one pound of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft. My maths says there is only a little over one pound nitrogen in one gallon of your product? That would treat only 1,000 sq feet. Help me here please. Thanks.

You have to be careful with any fertilizer that has Nitrogen in it because too much of it can burn the lawn. 18-0-1 GreenePunch is such a low input of Nitrogen that it is pretty safe to apply. Just go by the label rates and you will be fine. Great question. Thanks for asking. - Castleberry

You are really confusing everyone. Let’s talk about cool season turf. You say 20 Oz of water to 1 Oz of punch in the video and say use a hose sprayer. On the label it is 7:1 ratio and it says apply to foliage which common sense says use a pump sprayer only. As per your video it comes to about 6 Oz per gallon. Ortho sprays 2 gallons per minute. So set the dial to 3 Oz? On the other hand as per the label ratio it comes to about 18 Oz per gallon of water. At 20 Oz needed per 1000 sq feet water needed will be 1.11 gallon. Either you come up with clear instructions as to why an ortho sprayer is needed (For 1000 sq ft a hose sprayer is not needed IMHO) or even better have the instructions on the bottle for both hose spray and pump spray. Lastly, you have given the ounces for spring, summer etc etc which is putting off everyone. Where are those instructions on the label???
