I found that if you are using a 6 pin lishi in a 5 pin lock with the standoff spacer then you do not want to try and actuate it with the lishi once it's picked. If the hardware isn't smoothly working you can damage the base of the blade trying to turn it.

@@HelpfulLockPicker It is going well and if you're still interested in one of my challenge locks I will gladly build you one sir. You have been on my list for one but I want to make sure that you do want it. I know that you mentioned you really don't do challenge locks and if you do not want one that is fine with me I will not be heartbroken or upset that just means that's another one off the list. I still pick when I can I've got a load of locks that have been sent to me that I need to go through but between work life and building CL's I have to do it in moderation a little bit here and there. Actually I'm about to go home and work on some pin ideas to add in some of my CL's that I will be putting together and sending out. I think it kind of like building challenge locks a little bit more than picking them.

@@j.gabriel8573 You don’t need a spacer or to back out the Lishi KW5 or SC4 in a 5 pin. Insert the Lishi all the way in as normal, and instead of making the #1 pin useless, as when using the spacer, all you have to do is not pick the #6 pin. Here is a link to BosnianBill’s use of it clearly. He’s not using a spacer or backing out the Lishi at all. Enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYncpqewjtBld5Y

From my understanding i got this from russej02 video from 5 years ago, the number 6 would just have zero play to it. No bounce or anything. U essentially just IGNORE number 6 and work number 5 through 1 to open. No need for spacers or anything. He even said u can save money by just buying the 6 pin kwisket and 6 pin shelege and not using the number 6 line. Can be hard to tell if its a 6 or 5 pin. I watched him open a 5 pin very easy with a 6 pin lock. Is there anything im missing? Seemed pretty straightforward 🤔🔥 many thanks everyone

Ok, so this video shows the extra part is just showing u to skip number 1 instead and working 2 through 6. Isn't this essentially the same thing just a different number set? Seems easier to just put the tool in, work 1 through 5 and not even worry about number 6. 🤔

Great video, as always! I've been using the kwikset 6pin Lishi tool on 5 pin locks with no problem and same with the schlage 6 pin on 5 pins, without any spacer because I didn't know there was one! Nevertheless, it seems like I've been successful opening 5 and 6 pin locks, almost every time! The American lock Lishi tool I'm not having great luck with but, I still can't pick American locks either! I'm hoping once I feel the tolerances while picking, I'll have much more success with the Lishi am tool! Any suggestions appreciated!

Love your videos. Just so I'm clear, Kw 4 will do 6 pin, Kw4 with spacer will do 5 pin,Kw 1 will decode (but not pick) Kwikset Smartkey but Kw 5 will not, Sc 20 will do all Schlage keyways and MC 2/3 will pick Master padlocks but is not the best. It will decode an open one though. So would a KW4,KW1 with spacer,SC2 and Mc2/3 be a good mix? Thanks..Peter
