I'm in a quandary about my 60 degree diamond ruler and making stars with it. Another video I watched said to use a "companion ruler" but didn't state what that was. Do I need two rulers for making stars, the diamond and triangle?

Is it possible to use this ruler to get a 61/2 by 3 triangle?

If you are referring to 6 1/2 tall and 3 wide it would be more like a 20 degree ruler to make the triangle.

What I finally thought about was to add 6.5 and 3 to get a block size of 9.5 and thought if I cut this block into a triangle it would make the 6.5 by 3 inch triangle? What's your thought on this?
