Thanks . Do you ever loosely cap the bottle and then squeeze out the air and foam and then tighten the carbonating cap? Would that prevent a bit of oxidation of the beer? Brew on!

This is what I do. Especially for an IPA that's a good idea if you want it to last more than a few days in the fridge.

That’s a carbonation cap I had been looking for. Perfect.

Great video, thanks. CO2 is generated inside a glass bottle, what is that is needed to let the gas out when the pressure level goes above certain level (say 2 bars) so that the bottle does not explode? Thanks.

Hi pal ,instead of that set up I could do exact sameday with a soda canister co2 and mini regulator could I not cheers carl

Not sure if you check comments on videos this old, but what size hose you got connecting that quick connect to the regulator? I just ordered the same one from fleabay, but it ain't tellin me what size the hose is. Also, would you recommend the reinforced vinyl hose, or would regular vinyl hold up to the pressure?

I enjoyed your video mate, just made myself a carbonation cap, so thanks for sharing your experiences, it will certainly make things easier for my next little adventure. Oh, one thing that you should consider is keeping your beer glasses in the freezer. Maybe by the time that you started recording she'd warmed up a little. Cheers again and happy brewing.

lol....i never thought of putting a tap on it !!! Most guys i think just carb it and then take off the cap and pour it...that's ingenious! will you be able to tap out the whole bottle...would a 2 liter bottle be able to be tapped like that and have enough residual co2 to use your picnic tap ?

The answer is no.

How much co2 do you need to carbohydrate a 2l bottle? Is a 16g co2 cartridge enough?
@Wildworldofbeer3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. Never considered using a cartridge, but pretty sure it should be enough for a 2L bottle. Only way to find out is try I guess... :)
@dopelogik3 жыл бұрын
I don't have the reference but I recall calculating somewhere that 16g should carb one gallon.

what kind of dissconnect?? to the carb cap?

Ball Lock Gas (white)
@davec49553 жыл бұрын
Gas and liquid ball lock disconnects are slightly different but the carbonation caps are made to a tolerance that will work with both. So with the cap and tube fitted to the pet bottle you can flush it first with CO2 to remove the air !! Then then using counter pressure fill the bottle through the carbonation cap. You can use that method to a bottle with already carbonated beer. Or if you're in a hurry to try the beer before it's carbonated you can transfer the beer into the bottle in the same way, and then force carbonate it as shown in the video.

I have had good luck without the hose attachment - but then again - I don’t dispense the same day.

You can use both liquid and gas disconnects on a carbonator cap. I use one of these caps connected to a garden sprayer and I clean my draught lines.

I tried this, but my c02 hose got filled with beer - am I doing something wrong?
@johndunlop80814 жыл бұрын
If there is no check valve near the cap (and there probably won't be one unless you put one there), then you may get beer running back down your line and even into your regulator, which you do NOT want to happen. So don't turn the bottle upside down! No problemo, it just takes a little longer to carb.
@johndunlop80814 жыл бұрын
You can also remove the gas line if you're in a hurry and want to shake and turn the bottle upside down. Then re-attach the CO2 with the bottle upright. Rinse, repeat a few times.

Two things: You don't need to say everything is "actual". We won't think you're talking about something figurative. Trust us. Second: could this not be whittled down so say, oh, 30 seconds to a minute tops? Yes, it could.
