I'm pretty sure the reason why they want you to pull not push is because the small little piece that moves is just like a crescent wrench you want to push when the little piece is facing you because it could slip that way and by pulling it it puts pressure on a different part of the opening of mouth on it

Adjustable wrenches should always be pulled into the adjustable jaws. Keeps them from opening up.

Though I certainly like tools, for someone who who is going to install half a dozen Mini-Splits in his house then put the wrench away forever, wouldn't a normal torque wrench with a set of crows feet be adaquate?

From a metrology view point, you will have a more even torque on the nut with a box type crows foot. 4 or 6 sides vs. just two sides, do to the opening. Two sides would want make the nut oblong in shape which would causing the threads to bind more so it would be an improper torque on a brass nut since it's softer material as well compared to a steel nut which would hold its shape better under toqure, that is what you must concider. Remember what kind of accuracy do you really need is this mil-spec and do you recalibrate the tool on a repeatable bases.

You said not to use in reverse and you loosened the fitting without turning the wrench around or getting another wrench to loosen

Ha, good point! Technically it does measure torque in "reverse" so I think it's "okay" under that scenario. I could be wrong but the manual didn't say that you should not use it for reverse rotations.

It's not that it can't be used in 'reverse', but that it's less prone to slippage and is it's most accurate when used 'forward'.

I went back and forth before choosing the CPS. I like the way the handle is more minimal on the BlackMax but honestly I'm sure that the Yellow Jacket is excellent as well. Maybe I'll order one and make a comparison video. The price seems to very somewhat as both were about the same price when I bought the CPS.

How would you pull the wrench when the flare nut is on the opposite side. Example the flare nut on the outdoor unit seems like you would have to push to tighten instead of pulling?

Well if your tools are making you money then it's a investment. I know alot of people will say they have a feel for tightening without a torque wrench and that's perfectly fine for them , and works for many. I got the torque wrench to eliminate any variables and to do it how manufacturers specify . Customers do their research more than ever today and if you install many of these ,you will have some look at what your doing and they will point out any deviations from what they have seen to be the proper way to do it .

You are the reason why people like myself and others have to fix your screw up. By doing that, your mushroom the fittings and sometimes the fitting on the unit which has to be removed and replaced. 99% of leaks are from people strong arming them
