Just won and picked up on of these on 'The auction site'. You can set up an ignition module from an electronic, i.e. pointless distributor (the GM HEI module is a doddle) if you are running a Pertronix or some such. I'm so excited, now I can check the dizzy for my MG and my Rover!

I became an owner of a complete (not tested yet..need to replace a few wires with cracked insulation) of one of these Allen E1415HD syncrographs. If you or anyone reading has some war stories of how you adapted to use electronic ignition, I would love to hear.

@@ProjectHeaven Haven't done anything with it yet, going through it is on my New Year's 'to do list, as I've added an early XJ6 to my stable a few months ago and I suspect the vacuum advance isn't operative.. I have just been in touch with a fellow that designed and built a circuit that replaces the 1b3 valve (we call 'em Vacuum Tubes) and it's circuitry, and replaces the flash tube with an LED, I will be getting one of his kits. There are also amplifier modules available for testing pointless dizzys. I'm also going to tackle rebuilding the vacuum pump as I'm reasonably sure it doesn't suck, and we all know vacuum pumps are supposed to suck :D

How did you convert the internals to flash an LED array for the pointer? I have the exact machine and I can't use it anymore because the last of the two Xenon bulbs are burnt out. I tried to source out a replacement and nobody offers anything else to replace it. I tried using a type of LED timing light circuit available online but that isn't working properly either. Not sure what to do at this point and it's just been sitting at the back of my garage. I found your video through a Hagerty Classic Car Insurance article and this is exactly what I need to do for my machine! I have another KZbin channel showing my machine in use (petergt4 - Allen E-1415 Syncrograph Distributor Tester). Thanks for any help you can provide!

If in the states, I have a module which converts SUN distributor machines to LED. It also has a feature called DWELL SPARK which produces a second point marker allowing you to read dwell right from the indicator disk. LED are really fast and point bounce can be seen.
