We just picked up one from Everything Attachments. Love it so far. Looking forward to tearing up and regrading the yard with our box blade and land plane soon. We'll probably use the box blade for the rough grade, the landscape rake to take care of any trash, and then the land plane for the final grade.

Something to keep in mind is the difference of the cutting edge(s) on a box blade versus a land plane. A box blade is a general purpose material mover and the cutting edge is straight. A land plane is a specialized tool used for leveling material and the cutting edges are at an angle. This helps to return material from the outside edge back towards the center. With this in mind, you want to have the right side of the land plane (while moving forward) on the edge of your driveway or project area. Now I doubt it makes a huge difference, but use this specialized tool as designed to really make your projects shine. I will say I have a box blade as it is the most versatile, then I want to get a rear blade for snow removal (here in Oklahoma, we don’t typically get enough at one time to need a specialized tool) and for its ability to shape materials (like returning materials from the edge of the road back to where they’re needed), and then I’ll get the land plane to have a tool that shines on maintaining the driveway with little operator effort.

That is one neat implement. I feel like it would do amazing on top soil or a fresh driveway. In my personal opinion for a old driveway or tight dirt I’d use a box blade with the scarifiers to disturb the material and finish with the plane. Great video and making me want yet another attachment.

I think a person should buy tools in our current economic climate, no matter what my wife says. LOL! I could have ordered the scarifiers with this unit, but it adds a good bit of price to the implement. I already have a box blade with scarifiers. I think me and you are on the same page.

These come with scarifers or rippers just like a box blade. Box blade will move the material where you want it but land plane is better for maintenance without dragging too much material to places you don't need it. It will fill holes and ruts without having to buy more rock. It brings the rock back to the surface and if you roll it afterwards it'll look like you had rock brought in for a new drive. Love them !
@Sackmatters

@@kipcudd7253 I’ve had my box blade for a while and love it. It has changed my entire property and then some. It’s extremely versatile. I’d like this for a final grade at my cabin. It seems like it’s the last step I need for finishing the long process I’ve already started. I’ve got right clay and some rock in my location, side of a mountain in Alaska. I’ve got almost all of the rocks gone I just need that final little step and I think this is it.

@@Sackmatters I had both the land plane and the box blade and they both had rippers on them. I used the land plane for existing driveways and the boxblade and loader for new drives. And I had a soil pulverizer for final grade work for lawns, and redoing horse arenas, softball fields, basically anything that had hardpan clay soil, plus a tiller, post-hole digger, a 6-way angle blade. I was going to get an excavator but health problems ended all that, heart attacks at 58, I'm 67 now but still miss my little tractor with a backhoe.

I can see the usefulness of having one Tony. I've never used one, yet, but I have a box blade I'm really like. I think a plane like yours, you would probably make less passes than with a Box Blade. Both are nice implements to dress up driveway and/or gravel road.

I recently got the 84" one, without the rippers like you. I have rippers on my County Line 6ft box blade and figured that the rippers are all the same (I think......?) so I could always move them over to the land plane if needed (will have to test fit them sometime when I can remember to do it...). Haven't had the chance yet to use it but it looks like yours was working well for you. And I don't disagree with you at all on getting more attachments!!! Have a good one!!

I still think the box blade has its place! It is much better at pulling materials further. A box blade is a bit more nimble as well. A land lever levels ground easier.

I have the Woods GSS60P Grading Scraper and by far it is my most used implement! Mine has adjustable depth blades and scarifiers so it is much more versatile than most. It is also way more expensive than most lol. it takes time and just keep dragging it back and forth and when the gravel loosens up then just the friction of Gravel on Gravel will start pulling more up. Another thing I do to really put a great finish on the job is to angle the grader back so just the rear blade drags and put it in high gear and make a high gear finish pass as I call it. I have a few videos of me using it.

I have an 84" land plane on my Kubota MX5200 with hydraulic top and side link. I've outworked a D4 dozer and a 100hp skid steer moving dirt and gravel on a few occasions. The travel speed of the tractor is so much higher for smoothing and breaking up dirt clumps with the plane. With the rippers down you can put a LOT of dirt into the plane very quickly. I should have bought stock in the things because I've sold a few. This thing completely replaces a normal box by 2x, but not a blade. The hydraulics make all the difference in the world to be able to forward and back drag on every pass.

Another good video. Do you find when going over sharper down hill sections that as the tractor drops and the back of the implement comes up you are making a mound at the crest of the hill? I’ve been thinking about building a land plane and was considering giving it a top link hook up like a bush hog so the land plane could better follow the terrain.

I recently bought this 84 inch model. It frustrated me a little at first because it dug up so much material so fast. I recently found it is the best weed abatement tool I ever put behind the tractor assuming no or few rocks. It is curious how both blades angle to the same side. Did that not come with scarifers, not that you need them for what you're doing but all I've seen of these and I've tried had ripper teeth like a box blade for harder driveways or hardpan soil. I know they don't work good in weeds, grass without ripping it up first or tilling. I know you have to pay attention to how level you got it. Got to have even amount of material flowing over both blades. Great tool for driveway maintenance.

I am no expert on the land leveler/plane; however, the land leveler/plane is made to level not moving a lot of material. The box blade can move a lot of material from one place to another. I can also back up close to something with the box blade. I got this mainly because of the longer drive and the even longer future drive. They are not getting cheaper.
