I've been watching you for a while a now and picked up loads of tips from your videos, I was just wondering I'm on the verge of buying a new lense I'm into landscape photography and go out and about is the 17-40mm your go to lense. Thanks
@paulcomptonpdphotography5 жыл бұрын
The 17-40 is a great lens for the money what body are you putting it onto. On a full frame like mine this will be wide I use the newer 16-35 for my wide stuff. My first go to lens for all work would be 24-105 f4 it’s not a bad lens but I know the new 24-70 is sharper. Depends what you have now

well your still looking at wide angle lens, on your crop body it will not be as wide.. 17-40 is a good lens mind

Nice one Paul and Denise. I had a similar issue last year when I tried to access Raven Crag--lots of road works and I finally gave up. If I knew where to park and how far to walk I would have given it a go. Maybe next time. I never bought one of those remotes because I know I would lose it. Turns out it is just as easy to forget to bring a cable release too! Cheers, Jeff

you take your base exposure then you use an app or chart to work it out, maybe a 121 with me on long exposure

@@paulcomptonpdphotography Do you count or can you set the camera to 121 seconds

Hello to you both, my first time using nd filter my pics was complete white so going after keep studying your technique am using a nikon D7100 and the filter is a 12 . Any ideas why it come out just white , thanking you for reading this

@@paulcomptonpdphotography Sorry its a K&f ND2 - 33 filter
@paulcomptonpdphotography Жыл бұрын
ND2 is small if your trying to get long exposures you need bigger filters like ND6 or ND10
@mats91924 жыл бұрын
I don't fully understand how to use an ND filter. If you use it to make a blown out sky look nice, doesn't everything else go totally dark then?
@paulcomptonpdphotography4 жыл бұрын
there is a difference from ND filters to ND Grad filters.. the idea is you only have the ND (the dark part) over the light bits of the image..
@mats91924 жыл бұрын
@@paulcomptonpdphotography So when using a normal ND filter it should be possible to get an ok exposure of both the sky and the land without the filter and I only use the filter to be able to get a longer exposure time to smooth out water etc. Is that correctly understood?
@paulcomptonpdphotography4 жыл бұрын
Yes mate, you have given me an idea for a vieo now, i thought everyone knew how they worked... so if its ok can i mention you in a video.. or you can send me a phone video question saying just this...lol but yes, an ND ie 6 stop or 10 stop will stop all the light getting in, so making your exposure time longer, if you want to control the sky then you need ND Grads so only covering the bright parts of the image..
