Great tutorial. Thank you. I have an unrelated question regarding map depths. The numbers are so small I can't see them even with reading glasses. When I zoom in they get larger for 1 second and back to being unreadable. I have text size set to large and it makes no difference. I'd like to make the numbers much larger.

Are you using the built in mappong on the display? If so, there isn't a way to increase the size of the numbers unfortunately. Some of the higher end displays like the Elite TI2 and HDS Live habe the ability to make them bigger, but this unit does not...

Great video, thanks. My question is how to record and then watch sonar recordings.? You can refer me to one of your videos that discusses that if you have one. Thanks again.
@nightanddaymarine88234 жыл бұрын
You just press your power button and select record sonar. Then once you have recorded what you need to, you do it again and stop the recording. Then Press your Pages button and go to settings. Select simulator and turn it on. Then right underneath where u turn on the simulator, select Files. You can then select your sonar recording as the simulation file. After you have done that and hit Save, you can bring up your sonar screen and it will start playing your sonar recording. I dont think I specifically have that shown in any of the videos I have on here right now.

Great Video extremely helpful. I purchased a Hook2 12 and it indicted on the info when I purchased that it was equipped with a map of 1000 Inland U.S. lakes supplied by Navionics, but when I turn on I only get a blue field for the lakes no depths, obstacles or any other things show up. Is that correct or do I have to buy a card from Navionics to get all of the other display items such as you were showing on this video. I do realize I have to purchase the saltwater and it does not come with it. Also no type of SD card was supplied with it at the time of purchase.

@nightanddaymarine8823 Жыл бұрын
With a SD card in your Elite FS, activate the genesis live overlay feature on your chart and just drive around and it will automatically use your sonar to create custom mapping on your chart screen.

I'm new to this and would like to know how to install and using navionics premium hot maps in a hook 7 unit.
@nightanddaymarine88234 жыл бұрын
To use a Navionics Hotmail premium card, you should just be able to insert it with the Chart screen on and it should auto load. A good way to tell if it's working or not is to zoom all the way out on the chart and see if your getting a bunch of red boxes everywhere. Those are the coverage areas that the card provides.

I fish on Lake Fork TX which has millions of stumps under the water. What's the best way to chart a route to avoid hitting the stumps for example?
@nightanddaymarine88234 жыл бұрын
First thing would be to get a good mapping card that will show the areas that are safe for travel. I would check out navionics.com or gofreeshop.com and see what their mapping detail looks like and if they cover your lake or not.

I have a Hook2 9ts. Live in Savannah Ga on the coast. Which card would you recommend. My unit came preloaded with lakes which does not help me on the coast. I will boat realistically WILMINGTON NC to Bimini when traveling and my fulltime base is Savannah Ga. Which card would you recommend.
@nightanddaymarine88233 жыл бұрын
Probably the Navionics+ card. You can download whatever area you need onto the card and its extremely detailed and it runs well on that display. However dont get a platinum card or anything other than the Nav + card. The others are too much for the Hook2 and it won't run all the features they have and will slow it waaaay down.

Videos full of useful info. Really nice work, the best for me for the hook2 series. Only one doubt on charts. Can I add multiple area charts on the SD card and read each area at a time, or there will be a conflict in reading a single chart do to some other charts saved on the SD
@nightanddaymarine88235 жыл бұрын
It depends on what type of charts you are talking about. If you want to use social maps, you have to put each set of map files into their own individual folders for the unit to recognize them as seperate maps.

I would probably recommend getting a card for sure. The base maps on those arnt all that great. You could get a Nav+ card or a cmap insight pro card. Tho the Nav+ will be more worth the money.

@nightanddaymarine88234 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you need a mapping card. You can go onto navionics.com and look at their mapping. It'll show u exactly what ull get if buy it. Or the cmap insight pro mapping card. Tho I would actually go to cmapgenesis.com first and see if your area is covered on the social maps. They are free to download.

Night and Day Marine it’s came with a card but I think I need to do what your other video said and put it in a computer and clear it and download my area (Alabama) and I think that will give me the detail I’m supposed to have. They told me at bass pro shop that I wouldn’t have to buy anything being it came with a card. But I may have mistaken

Hello. I have two Hook 2 units. Hook 7xTS on the bow. Hook 7 TS at the pilot seat. Both transducers are on the transom. One transducer on each side of the outboard motor. I keep losing the bottom reading on each or they say 400 feet when I’m in much shallower water. I seldom fish less than 15’. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
@nightanddaymarine88235 жыл бұрын
Do u notice a lot of black vertical lines on your screen? The 2 transducer might be knocking each other out. Do they read better if you only run one at a time?

Is there a Lowrance program or something I can use to put tracks and waypoints on a SD card and then transfer them to my Hook2?
@nightanddaymarine88233 жыл бұрын
They used to have software called the Insight Planner but they stopped supporting it several years ago. Havnt come out with anything since unfortunately.

@@nightanddaymarine8823 OK, well I have that... can I use that for this Hook2?
@nightanddaymarine88233 жыл бұрын
@@FreedomWon20 Ya, if you have the insight planner software on your computer and it actually works then sure. Only problem is finding maps that will load into it that you can use to create the waypoints and trails on. But if you can manage all that then yes, the Hook2 will accept it. Just save is as .USR version 4.

How deep is lowrance hook 2 range in salt water?
@nightanddaymarine88234 жыл бұрын
Depends on which coast you are on. If it's east coast, probably around 300 to 400, if in the gulf, 400 to 500 at best, and west coast, maybe 200 if your lucky.
