Same! Felt like it was the right way to use it too. But it was like upside down. I just did my chain and I felt a bit tight. Found this video. Going to recheck and see how off the measurement is compared to the way I was doing it before

Just rechecked. With tool measuring the “right” way and then again with a tape measure and it was still accurate to what I measure yesterday measuring it the “wrong way” they way I did it before actually made it easier to read as opposed to the correct way

I wish you demonstrated setting a zero for different bikes or circumstances I don't quite get what you mean and I'm using it on a sport bike

Me neither. I find the motion pro fiddly and confusing. I use a good old tape measure and have thrown the Motion pro to the back on my tool box.

Looks like you're only measuring the downward deflection, what about the upward deflection? The chain is behind the swing arm and probably has some deflection upwards. Your 40mm may actually be 60 mm or more. What am I missing?

I said the same thing and my 2023 KTM manual actually says to measure for the absolute slack measurement which is what the top measurement gives. There are two measurements the Motion Pro Slacksetter gives and two different sets of numbers on the tool just for that so yeah, not sure why no one is taking the absolute.

the size of the chain is important. You are leveling with the lower tooth, then measure with the upper tooth. The difference isn't the slack.

At first I thought this was just a useless gimmicky gadget to take my money. After you explained and demonstrated it intent my mind has been changed. What a simple and great idea! Presently on my bikes I have to place the bike on a flat surface, Clean off the floor to get down and take the measurements, Get gloves on to not grease my fingers up, Place a machinist square on the ground, Get a flashlight so I can see the lines on the scale, Lay down on the ground while trying to read the fine lines for the UPPER measurement while holding the flashlight and moving my head around so I can see through my bifocals while pressing the chain up all while worrying about parallax. Record that measurement, Then Repeat for the Lower measurement, Do the calculation, Forget the upper measurement and have to repeat... For this reason I do not do it as often as I should. A 10 minute ordeal just turned into 30 seconds. Will be one of my next purchases.

Both of my bikes call for chain measurement of 5-13mm from swing arm rendering this tool useless.

The Slacksetter Pro has a dual scale that can also measure deflection from the swing arm, that's the one you need
