Having a deviated septum (the line that divides the left side of the nose from the right) is likely to affect airflow. Alternatively, airflow can also be affected if you have a small nose or a compromised airway. If you do physical exercise with your mouth closed while having these issues, you will quickly notice that air hunger is too severe.
This is where a nasal dilator comes in and it can alleviate air hunger. If you are unsure of whether you need a nasal dilator, try the Cottle Maneuver. Place one finger on either side of your nose and gently prise your nostrils. When doing this, you will likely notice it's easier to breathe. The nasal dilator will open up your nose and help you maintain easier nasal breathing so you can reap the benefits.
What's more, you won't feel so restricted and the air hunger won't be so severe. There are two sizes available - medium and large and it is inserted in the nose and designed to stay in during physical exercise.

Edit: I have recieved and neither sizes fit nicely. I can barely have them in around the house never mind playing an intense sport. Very uncomfortable and overpriced for what really are 4 pieces of small plastic. I would definitely not recommend wasting your money on this product.

I ordered this in great anticipation as a competitive cyclist, so when it arrived the large one was the better fit. I wore it around the house for a while to try it out and it fwlt secure & comfortable my breathing felt better and free flowing. Then i started my training session, during the warm up at an easy pace 5 minutes into it, the dilator started to slip out as it was a cold day my nose was running a bit. I played around it with for a while at different intensities and it CONSISTENTLY slipped down where it sat at the edge of my nose causing a restriction not relieving it or it popped out altogether on one side, eventually i took it out. This doesn't work if inside your nostrils is wet or running as it does NOT stay in place. Maybe if your nose is very narrow it may work Very disapointed with this.

Hi @AlecFortescue, Thank you for your comment. We understand if you are disappointed with our product. Please contact our customer services department with your order number and details of the problem and we can issue you a full refund. On the plus side, if the nasal dilator slips out of your nose, then it is likely that your airways are already open enough that you do not need the nasal dilator in the first place. Kind regards The OA Team.

What's the use of Air hunger in the body?
@OxygenAdvantage
@OxygenAdvantage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Austin, Breathing slower causes an air hunger in the body due to the build up of CO2. When air hunger is felt, it means that oxygen is getting delivered to the brain and to the rest of the body. When practiced over a period of time, it also helps reduce breathlessness. Many thanks, Darren
