I was going crazy thinking that the light meter in my new camera was not working. Turns out you need to give the shutter a slight press after unlocking the camera. Thanks for the video!

Next to my FE2 this my favorite camera!

I like the fe2 better because of how it meters, that needle system rather than the fm2’s +\- indicator. If I can ever get the Fm3a that would take the cake though !

Both are amazing, I mean I would have one of each for the benefits of aperture priority or mechanical 1/4000. Each one has its pluses.

Thank you Nico's Photography Show for all your interesting and helpful reviews. I use the Nikon FM3a as my main 35mm camera. It is a step up from the FM2n, but I think definitely worth the extra investment. I bought it new in 2005, and it is still going strong and like new. I am looking for a back up 35mm camera, and am trying to choose between a FM, F3 or F4. Beside this I am more a medium format shooter, and I use several medium format systems. Greetings from The Netherlands, Hemmo Grol.

F3p is the best one.

Question, I have a 50mm 1.8 lens. What filter can I use? Thank you!
@NicosPhotographyShow2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the version of the lens.

But most times its 52mm with Nikon lenses.

I was following you tutorial to finally use my FM2 and I realised there is a film inside. The shot finder shows "S" letter and I can't shoot and advance. What do you suggest to do? Thank you so much and my best greetings from Rome :)
@zerogravity121Ай бұрын
If you can't advance with lever, most likely means the film has been shot completely but not rewound. I would rewind it completely. The fact that it indicates S and not 36 or any other number means someone must have opened the camera (which reset the counter to S) but also inadvertently exposes the film to light. I would discard the film.

@@zerogravity121 thank you so much for your reply. I have tried to rewind but looks like it is forced to do so while doing it, and then it releases the loading. For some reason this operation unlocked the lever and it's now counting the shot but I don't know if that possible? I mean, if already shot but not rewound would it be possible to use it again?

Hey Nico, I just bought a Nikon FM2n with Nikkor 50mm 1.4 AIS lens. I'm still a bit confused about the metering with AIS lens, should I meter it with the depth-of-field lever or just normal ? (the meter change when i pressed that lever) since normally, the aperture doesn't change until I pressed the shutter release button to take a photo
@jonathans.9372 Жыл бұрын
Late answer - but with AI/AIS lenses the aperture ring is coupled to the camera meter via that little tab on outside of the mount. As a result you can meter wide open since the lens is communicating with the camera meter. When you take a picture the camera does two things before opening the shutter: it kicks the mirror up, and it stops down the aperture in the lens to the set aperture.

No T for timed exposures is a bummer

Honestly a remote shutter release cable with the press lock is gonna be much simpler and introduces less vibration.

Ha! You’re such a show off! You Hassy and Leica “just happened” to be in frame… I would show off, too! Just kidding… I see your other videos on those cameras…

Nico, some concerning (or at least odd) news from Foma, their website and Instagram account have vanished. According to a guy on Reddit (r/analogcommunity) the information for the domain shows the website has changed hands recently
