How to use a Noco G7200 Battery Charger

I had one on my old Mercedes with a new battery, to keep it alive as a tender. The car is being restored and not driven, so I didn't want the battery to go flat, and didn't want to leave a normal charger on it. It also has a battery switch added. I went down to start the car, which had sat for many months with this charger on it. When I turned on the battery switch there was a "fffFFSHHHHHHH" sound came from near the battery and thick, toxic smoke billowed out at the bottom, at the negative end. It filled the garage with smoke. I thought some electronic component in the car fried, but I touched the battery terminals and the negative one was smoking hot! I'm not sure, but I suspect that this charger fried my new battery until the liquid was almost all gone. ??? I don't know if a short in a cell could cause this. Battery was fine and only a few months old the last time that I started this car. The "Genius" has been on it for several months now, in an underground garage on the west coast -- temps from around 50 F to 70 F. Any ideas? I need a shower. I smell like an electrical fire.

How do you use it in 24v mode?

Make sure it’s on AGM setting not regular charge AGm batteries require higher charge then normal acid battery’s

@@mplscarsales6652 I am not sure I understand what you just wrote. I Have an AGM Battery and the setting ion AGM/COLD on the NOCO.

Nice intro, however main part is missing - what happens with voltage and current as the process is progressing. Multimeter should be connected throughout the whole video. Would be more helpful then. Especially since NOCO charges a lot differently than others. Won't hold the target voltage for a bit of time (reaches it and stops). Also won't stay in float of 13,x V, but just prevents the voltage from dropping below a certain level (12,8-12,9 V).
