I recently got a fountain pen with a Con-70. I have been using cartridges up until now, and I couldn't figure out how to use the Con-70. I'm going to try it now. Thank you for the instructions.

Good luck! Takes some practice but it’s not too hard

One of the reasons I picked up a Kakuno was because it could take the Con-70. Great little pen. 😁

Excellent video full of very useful PILOT converter compatibility tidbits and filling procedures. Thanks! (But...I also wanted to point out as a long-time fountain pen user - you really shouldn't let the nib 'bottom out' in the ink bottle as this may damage the nib. Of course, you may know this by this time as this video is now 3yrs old). Once again, a great video otherwise! Cheers.

How do you store and organize all your pens? I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to organize my own.

So love the Explorer, yes it’s resin aka plastic, but that modern slick taper design is easy to hold. I now really dislike the cigar/torpedo shape, plus that resin light weight, reminds me of pre WW II celluloid pens, loved those, it’s before the after the War heavy bakelite became the norm. With use, the Explorer turns into the pen you just want to use. With a 1 ml converter it holds a lot of ink. Gee, much does a good quill pen weight? I guess they should add acrylic, brass feathers, just to beef it up? Torpedo/Cigar the shaft. Cough...

If you can find Pilot mr, european version of the Metropolitan take it. It goes with standard cartridges

If u want to ink the pen with a cartridge u can open the cartridge first with the back end and then stick the nib into the cartridge opening to get some ink.

Does the pilot explorer accept the Ic p3 s6 mixable ink cartridges? i know it says for parallel pen exclusively but still wondering if it accepts it anyway.

@Unsharpen!!! I know this is an old video, but does swapping cartridge types and feeds/nibs with these pilot pens (the ones that have parts that are interchangeable) increase any chance of leaking? I've seen a lot of people talk about swapping these parts around but no one has talked about if these compromises that reliability of the pens. Thanks. I appreciate any help with this.

Re nibs: If done properly and not done often (because of wear) you shouldn't affect the chance of the pen leaking. That said, it's hard to do a nib swap perfectly every time, you'll have to expect some increase in risk. But feel free to change cartridges and converters as much as you'd like. The pen is designed to take many cycles of this happening.

I have the metro. How do you store your fountain pens? Tip up? Down? On their sides? Thank you.
@finalbossd4 жыл бұрын
MikeyMay8 On their sides or up work fine. Do not store it nib down or ink will leak into the cap.

Hi! Do you know if the new converter CON-70N works the same way? I am having problems to fill mine. Thanks!
@unsharpen4 жыл бұрын
I’m not familiar with that. How is that one different from the normal model?

The Con-70 has been replaced with Con-70N which has a little metal cylinder around the central rod, above the black piece. Here you can see a picture: image.rakuten.co.jp/penroom/cabinet/pilot2/43376_1.jpg

As far as I can tell, Pilot is really trying its best to produce the worst converters ever.
