This won’t help you if you can’t already fight. Your best bet is situational awareness and avoiding the rules of stupid: Don’t go stupid places at stupid times with stupid people. I can recommend a channel called Active Self Protection who does really good breakdowns of IRL defensive situations to learn from them.

@@raymondmccombie4808 sure i learned how to defend myself on youtube…. ha! Believe me, when a 6 foot 5 inch gorilla who is looking to beat the shit out of you, ain’t gonna let you walk up and stab him with a stick. It is one tool. IF that is your only tool and it fails you are F*&ed. In all seriousness. I think people have false senses of security when they learn a few techniques. A really big guy coming after you…. just think about it…. everything works great on paper. Including Jui Jitsu…. It is great if you are dealing with one guy…. unless he knows i too hahah. but while you are rolling with the guy his buddies are kicking the shit out of you. This guy is legit. I wouldn’t want to fight him, but to say that stuff will work for everyone is wrong. Size absolutely matters.

Flashlights also have the additional benefit of helping you see in the dark, improving situational awareness and hopefully letting you see a threat before it turns into an ambush. Also 1000 lumens to eyes blows chunks. Even in daylight it leaves afterimages and blurs like you accidentally looked at the sun. At night it’s worse almost completely blinding. For a fun example go buy some 200 lumen cheapo flashlights from a dollar store and spar lightly with a friend. Preferably around dusk. Boxing someone with a flashlight is miserable. Got my ass beat by someone I go toe to toe with on the regular, and he really only used his lead hand.
@Markmygame
@Markmygame 3 ай бұрын
I think a flashlight should be the only pocket stick you should consider unless there's a exceptional reason not to. It has the benefits you included plus it has a pocket clip so its easier to draw than other pocket sticks. Plus they usually fill the hand for good grip and better fist load. But most useful aspect of the flashlight is not self defense against ppl. But self defense against puddles, ice, potholes in the sidewalk, unexpected curb drops, cobblestone, etc. Using my flashlight has the primary self defense aspect of not landing on my ass in the dark lol

When i go running i carry one of those small training weights that look like that stick etc. It's probably the most basic thing you can have, just trying to use hands/fist can easily leave them injured, so some sort of 'object' is needed to avoid this. And of course, with it being in the hand already it can be used instantly.

Yeh, I read that holding, even, a clipper lighter or a packet of polo mints, in your fist when you're punching makes your fist much stronger and less prone to your knuckles getting broke. I wish I had known this when I missed my dad's face, as a teenager and, instead, hit the fucking wall. All was forgiven, soon after and I think it's what helped to shock him to stop drinking, at last, but my hand's not been the same, ever since, heh. There's a kind of thick pen called a Kaweco Sport that short and thick and they make some out of aluminium and brass. I might get myself one of those as my edc pocket carry.
