Well i finally got the time to try out my trimsaw and it worked excellent, exactly how you explained it. Im honestly tickled pink with how quiet it was and how well it cut,especially with the thin blade. Thanks again for passing your knowledge on brother.

No worries. It does have a pretty small and quiet motor for sure. Works pretty well for the price.

Apt timing for this video. I have a lump of opal I keep looking at and want to split but I dont fancy using a cutting disk on a Dremel tool.

If it is chunky it can be stressful on the dremel for sure. I will rarely use the dremel for slicing anything anymore now I have this.

Its certainly not bad. Apart from the blade cover max height and drain hole I wouldn't change much else.

That was very helpful. It looks exactly the same as my wet saw. I’m guessing the difference is the rpms. Watching the demonstration is much better than just reading the user manual. Thank you.

Probably still a similar rpm. The main difference to the others I have used is the gap around the blade being much tighter (thin slabs are way better on this than others I have used).

Nice find, so my local lapidary club advised me to stay away from Dremel on opals and said I'll be learning bad habits, that being said, they have 6 (six) month waiting period to join and then be taught to use the machines. Question begs, do I learn bad habits or wait 6 months. The have everything one would need to cut and polish stones and even set stones, but would it be worth the wait and put a hobby on hold.

Not sure what they mean by bad habits. Carving is a whole different style of opal cutting which cant be done on either wheels or laps. If you are just wanting to cab I could possibly see where they are coming from (bad habit being happy with uneven shapes).

@@RoysRocks Ah yeah, well I'm not gonna sit around for 6 months though, already invested some money to be able to work on some opals. Can't afford a cabbing machine anyways, still learning and picking up on tips and tricks from your video's. So might just stick to a rotary tool for now.

Well there you go, I’ve been using mine for 2yrs and had no idea the inner flange had two size lugs. Maybe I should open the manual and take a look, on second thoughts I’ll just wait for a KZbin video to come out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

Haha you must have had the correct side facing out for your blade from the start and just use the one sized blade. Thats golden 😂

Hey Roy, like others have said this vid is good timing. I was looking at these saws on Friday after I saw your original review on this saw and I'm going to order 1. Also I have heard you say that you have used a flat lap to make oval cabs,up till now I've only cut opal with a dremel so I was wondering if you have any suggestions or should I even bother getting a flat lap.

If you want to blitz through some rough shaping the flat lap is great. I prefer the vertical style. I use it behind the scenes especially on big chunks of Boulder opal just until it is more manageable and has some good signs of caring potential.

im gonna be honest with you mate you can get a tile saw from any hardware store for $60 then buy a thinner sintered blade for it, if your buying a trim saw get a well made one that's all metal and its gonna last ages other wise just buy a tile saw

This is exactly that? A slightly modified wet tile saw and they are not $60 here, they are all $200+ just like this. The rubbish ryobi at work is almost $500 so not sure what you are looking at.

I bought a “skil” tile saw in 2020 that I've been using since, they use to be $60 but they’re just under a hundred now guess i was a bit off 😅 but i did find some at homedepot for $68 still

No I only sell basic carving equipment that is too expensive everywhere else. I have never removed any comments and do the opposite asking for people to make other suggestions. The more ideas the better and I'll always check out things others have had good experiences with. I like trying positively reviewed items others have found.

@@RoysRocks about what your are selling, sorry but I call it overpriced Chinese tools, even what you sell is not the best deal and you sell it almost 3x more expensive…0_o why not just send the link of the product at good price!! You video are good focus on that! People are not stupid if you want followers help the community, you will grow in KZbin!! Trying to compete with the Chinese market is not good for you. Cependant, there is opportunity like selling mostly the 800 and 1200 Chinese resin burs for 4-4.50$ each, there are gonna cost you 2$ !! I can order it low volume for 6$ free shipping (5x 30$)
