Great video, Anton. Thanks for the idea. So it’s OK to manually move mindstorms motors when they’re connected to a hub and powered on, then?
@AntonsMindstorms3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Electrically there is no problem. Be careful with really excessive force (hitting it real hard), however, because the internal gear is still made from plastic.

Thank you for great ideas!!! I think it is nicer to use absolute encoder and the compare 180 for the main part of the switch. Then go to 24 or 336 I liked the pressure switch and the flip switch. Thinking about it, you are not restricted to just binary switch, could just as easily be three, four, or more positions, just need some more logic.

Via the MINDSTORMS app. Have you tried that?

Do other spike compatible motors behave the same way? I know the Boost motor from droid developer was used in the official build to control a shoot em up game. I presume this technique can be used with technic motors and Boost motor, just thinking that people may have other motors at their disposal. In fact, can Boost hub use this technique?

If you don't have a force sensor, this is useful. Many Robot Inventor owners don't have one.

Hi! Great idea! I have a question that I can't find an answer to. How much mechanical play is there in the medium and large Spike Prime/Robot Inventor motors? How does it compare to the EV3 medium and large motors? This is an account for a youth robot team and we're deciding whether this the year to upgrade (were switching to Scratch either way).
@AntonsMindstorms3 жыл бұрын
The same as EV3 motors, I'd say +/- 5 degrees. The encoder is on the out axle, which means the angle will read accurately to the degree. But on a stopped motor, you can twist the out axle 5 degrees forward and backward until you start to feel friction. This is big problem for control, especially for breaking hard.
@gotrobotfll38613 жыл бұрын
@@AntonsMindstorms Thanks so much for the reply! I appreciate it. Yes, it's a big issue for control. Our team spends a lot of time thinking about this and trying to negate it in First Lego League. Thanks for pointing out that the encoder is on the out axle. I had not thought about where in the gearbox it was.

Antons about Gelo, does yours drift to the right when going foward? Also mine cant do the trick were he stays on his front and then falls into his legs again. I have rebuilt him one more time and the problem is still there.😔
@AntonsMindstorms3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a slight drift, but I corrected for that in Python. I suppose you haven't used Python to make him stand on his head? I wrote an advanced program, and I still have to make a tutorial for it.

@@AntonsMindstorms yeah, i programmed him on the scratch blocks and not in python. I guess my floor type can also affect how he does the trick right? It is hard ceramic floor
