@@CompetitorsEdge22 I've been putting off getting one for years. You've convinced me to go ahead and get one.

@@SquarebodyStuff that's perfect, I highly recommend using one, crazy the different torque numbers you start to see when making sure x stretch is met!

Did you use the ARP bolt lube on your bolts? If not, this would explain the higher than normal torque going on. If you did, I would for sure talk to ARP about this and verify before you do anything else.

you bet! I use lots of lube, I've done NUMEROUS 8740 rod bolts now and all are the same results, even ordered an extra set to have on hand for any that want to stretch beyond spec and same thing. Triple checked with machine shops who all state the same thing with 8740 bolts.

When you start falling out of the mfgr's spec, it's time to call them. The bolt was not designed to be torqued that high. Too much torque could pull the threads among other things resulting in disaster.

I agree and that was my first thoughts as well, after consulting my machinest he confirmed the 8740 ARPs always torque higher then advertised to achieve correct bolt stretch. That being said I should also reach out to ARP to get there take on it, thanks for the comment 👍
