When we redid the kids' bathroom, I told my husband that we needed one of these to remove ceramic floor tile, etc. I remembered how hard it was to remove the ceramic tile in our foyer with a hammer and chisel. He let me get it. It has been an invaluable tool for so many different projects.

I am a General Contractor and own a sign company. I install a LOT of signs. When I accepted a projected for a large warehouse, I had to bore holes through 18” concrete “tip up” walls. I bought a rotary hammer from Harbor Freight (I think less than $100), and a set of 24” masonry SDS bits. That was four years ago, and that thing has now been used on all SORTS of projects. The “hammer only” function is awesome for so many different requirements. Thanks for doing this video for folks. One thing to mention, there is a difference between SDS, and SDS Max. Make sure you purchase the right one for your needs. The standard SDS has done just about everything I’ve needed it to do, so I haven’t had a need for the Max tools.

I love mine for digging small trenches in hard ground, but will never try it for chiseling at concrete or removing tile unless it's a tiny area. I also took back the only battery powered one I ever bought. It was no comparison to my corded 120 volt rotary hammer. I have a great 40+ year old corded Ryobi, but like many rotary hammer drills, it doesn't have a non rotary or chisel only feature. My corded rotary hammers with Bosch bits easily drill deep holes up to 1 inch in the hardest concrete. Most of my use of rotary hammers is for making holes in old concrete for epoxying in rebar.

A rotary hammer is a great tool, but there is some things you should be aware of. Some of them won't drill in reverse, so you want to make sure you get one that will. The second thing is when you are drilling concrete you need to pull the drill up every inch or so to clear the chips or it will bind up in the concrete. In the case of your chipping off that concrete for your cabinets, it would have been much easier to cut a notch in the back of your cabinet.
