I am new to using the Sharp N Spark and Poker Chip sharpeners. I have a few newbie questions for Scott. How long is it taking you to sharpen your knives when you do it. I watch Brad and it seems a few minutes with these sharpeners. For me it's 20 to 60 minutes per knife and I am still wondering how sharp is sharp. Again still learning and I believe it works, this is more me being new to the sharpener. Also, how are you testing if your knives are sharp?

So it essentially is a steel whetting rod to straighten up the bent edge bits, but more aggressive due to the 90° angles.

Partially true. It all depends on how much pressure I put on the sharpener to the knife. I can literally cut metal out of the blade that you can see easily on the table. If I choose to a Carbide, insert is manufactured and designed to cut, cut steel. Or I just lighten up on the pressure and polish the blade. It is so simple.

Thank you for explaining how to use this, I've been watching your shorts and videos for a while and definitely am considering possibly buying one now. Lol on the other topic of the video opinions are like assholes everybody's got one but I like to keep my knives hair shaving sharp because the sharper they are the longer they stay sharp for me, if I had to do scraping and prying and cutting thick wire all that stuff a knife probably shouldn't be doing I'd just bring the tools I would for the job. I will never understand why some people seem to think their knife is some super tool good for every single task no matter what. thats kind of like pounding nails with a splitting axe just because you can doesn't mean you should, I've abused knives in the past and I know they can do a lot but they cutting tools not prying scraping, and sheet metal cutters

Well, I believe I can ask a welder fitter fabricator if he stops and goes and finds the very exact tool he should be using every time he does a job. Ask a rancher if he goes back to the ranch and gets the exact right tool for the job, then goes back out into the field and does the work. Ask a mechanic if he stops what he’s doing and goes and finds the exact right tool for the job. Ask a commercial fisherman if he stops what he’s doing and goes and finds the exact right tool for the job he’s doing. Ask a construction worker if he stops what he’s doing and goes somewhere and looks for the exact right tool to do the job he’s doing. You live in a fairytale world I guess. and the sharper the knife, the longer it stay sharp, I don’t think so.

I just received my Sharp N Spark and Poker chip sharpener. For kitchen knives I have been playing around with the Sharp N Spark's The re-shape "v" area and it appears to work really well to remove chips from kitchen knives and EDC knives. I am just finding I need to take it slow and be patient because I don't have the same technique as well as speed as @sharpensbest does.

@@RobClement-uq8xw this is a honing device not a sharpener as depicted, should primarily use on already sharpened knives. It’s also entirely angle dependant and if you dont do it correctly you can screw up the grind on your blade very easily
