In the 70's, I worked on a 42" steel coil slitting machine. The coils came from Llanwern, South Wales by rail, then they stacked inside a warehouse. I was a slinger an burner. I had to cut the end to a V, an small hole to fix a wire rope thro to feed it into the machine.No auto feed then. Then it was cut into different widths. Finally the cut coils went to the cold rolling dept to be further processed...
