In this firearms training video Tim Schmidt aka "Tactical Tim" will show you how to use a smart carry holster. Tim will tell you the pros and cons of the smart carry holster and why he enjoys wearing one. This holster, although may be funny looking, provides a comfortable way to deeply conceal your firearm. Tim uses this holster a lot and as a result you can see all the wear that the holster has on it. This holster really does offer the best of both worlds for Tim as it's extremely comfortable as well as provides a very quick draw if you were ever forced to use your handgun in self-defense. At first I wasn't sure if this was a practical solution. In fact, I didn't use it for a couple of years; I stored it. Then recently I started using it in a setting where I needed "deeper" concealment, and now I really appreciate it. It is so comfortable that I forget it's even there. And it doesn't pull your pants down. It can be worn in shorts with loose elastic, because it provides its own support. Urinating is easy as well. It is a great solution.

Good advice, thank you. I did get one but, now I can adjust it for best concealment thanks to your video. And you are right, it does not feel like you are carrying anything and is out of the way in any position. Easy to sit, bend over, walk, run, etc...love it.

I have one of these, and I totally recommend it for us big guys. I am a lefty myself, and I have found that it works best for me if I turn the holster so that my gun rests on my left thigh when I sit down. I found that if I wore it right over my crotch, it didn't work so well when I sat down (it made me look like I was..."excited", which might be OK, and even look impressive if I carried a 500 S&W, but not so much with an LC9). Anyway, when I wear it so that it sits on my left thigh, it is super comfortable, easily accessible, and leaves no print whatsoever. I love it!

A lot of negative comments here. I was a naysayer as well, but I'm open minded enough to actually buy one and give it a try. It would take a lot to get me to give up my crossbreed. It took a couple of days of use, but I was sold. The most comfortable holster I've ever worn. I don't understand all of the concern about shooting your junk. This is no more likely than shooting yourself through the kidney when you draw from an IWB holster. Only an incompetent person would shoot themselves while drawing from any holster. I never have to adjust this holster through the day. I can't say the same for others I own ( I have seven lightly used ones in my closet). As far as the urinal is concerned, you usually have to pull the zipper out of the way, your tucked shirt and underwear out of the way......and it is absolutely no effort at all to push the holster out of the way with the back of your hand. I have never had anyone detect that I was carrying a weapon while standing at a urinal. Open your mind.....it's a big world out there.

@@MrPlowboy66LOL! I liked the idea at first too but no way in hell I would carry round in the chamber with this one. It makes a good protector though if someone where to attempt to kick in your jewels. Another reason to be chamberless.

@@MrPlowboy66 Kidneys are very vascular and you will probably bleed out quick if you shoot one. And are you sure you have 2 functioning kidneys? Most people assume they do but sometimes one doesn't, some people are only born with one. You really can't tell unless you get scanned as the are buried behind the abdominal organs and have ribs behind them. Anyway, you do what's best for you! I like my SmartCarry!

I'll keep my pocket holster. I can draw from it one handed and a good pocket holster (not an Uncle Mikes) doesn't really print that much. A good "modification" to keep your pocket holster in your pocket during the draw is to cover it with double sided skateboard/traction tape from Walmart.

what's funny is these guys with these deep concealment holsters never show themselves drawing from a seated position. A good holster can be drawn immediately from any position, standing, seated, lying, prone, any. When you need access to it on an emergency situation the bad guy's not going to give you time to stand up so you can draw.

@Paelorian

We know deep concealment holsters aren't ideal, but they're used when less concealed holsters aren't an option. Sometimes it doesn't matter if your gun is partially exposed bend you bend over of if you print. Other times just letting someone get the idea that you may be carrying could cost you your career and damage the lives of yourself and your family. That may very well be a more present danger than a situation that calls for a rapid draw. In such an instance, one can not afford to give anyone any evidence that you're carrying a gun. If you don't need deep concealment, don't do it.
@tlelliott-nc2384
@tlelliott-nc2384 5 жыл бұрын
It's for when you can't use a "regular' holster (IWB for example). If you are wearing a suit to a business function, you may have to remove your coat-- exposing your IWB or OWB holster. If you're going to watch a ball game or mow the grass in shorts and no shirt, it works there too. So yes, other holsters allow drawing from any position but NOT while remaining concealed. This one is a compromise. (And yes, you can draw from them while seated-- but not a super quick draw certainly.) It's a great product.

I'd have a couple concerns about this (and probably most deep concealment holsters). First, it looks like I'd have to halfway undress to reholster. Next, it looks like bathroom breaks might be a little challenging. But probably my biggest concern would be it looks like you need the use of both hands to be most effective with this holster which is a big drawback in my opinion.
