I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and am loving the content. I got a Svengali deck a while back, used it for a few gigs/nights out and then retired it as I found it repetitive (something we should all actively avoid haha) and now you’ve made me want to bust it out and experiment! Teaching tricks and techniques is one thing that many do and few actually do well, but inspiring thought and creativity is rare and welcome. Stay safe and carry on the great work! 🤘🏼

Thanks a lot! I bring with me every day a svengali deck. Some I like to do in dealing card on table for the spectator is to drop down two cards a time, and ask the spectator to tell me when to stop; this way the top card from card on table both on my hand will be, all the time, the force card.

Wow! As a long time dedicated hobbyist I've been looking for a quick and professional Svengali tutorial on KZbin for some time now. Watching this I realised I've certainly underestimated this powerful tool, like most of us have. I can tell you have a really good understanding of how to make routines deceptive by mixing methods, adding layers and avoiding the unnatural behaviours that we tend to fall back on when we are too lazy/comfortable to think things through properly. Thank you for this awesome video! :)

I switched to phoenix cards a while ago and you can already easely tell from the back of the cards whether or not it is a forcecard. Realy lets you focus more on performance instead of counting.
@Dimitris.Papastamatis Жыл бұрын
nah , i think the best way is to do a throw the cards on the table and let the spectator do a wash shuffle , then take the cards and do a faro to reset and tell the spectator to give a cut . this is the way i use the deck and it really doesnt feel like a svegali deck at all

Amazing vid Sean, that last effect makes me want to go buy a Svengali right now! Just thinking out loud here, I don’t really use Svengali so maybe I missed something but if you take your card out of the deck once you do part 1 of the ACAAN wouldn’t that leave the force cards after that point (16 in the case in the video) in the even numbered positions? So if they named a number larger than 16 there would be an issue? Simple solution would be to put the card back instead of leaving it out. Unless I’m missing something 😂
@SeanDevine2 жыл бұрын
It actually makes no difference! Since you're doing the even number first, you'll always end up with a force card on top of the deck (1 being an odd number). Then you do your number (which is always odd) to get to the force card everytime. I had to think about this for a minute 🤣
@ReidFerry2 жыл бұрын
@@SeanDevine Ahaha this is confusing 😂 I agree but it’ll also leave two force cards beside one another at the named even number if you remove the card. So after that point the force cards would be at even numbers no?
@filipehenriques84052 жыл бұрын
@@ReidFerry the deck is cut after the first selection so the force card is already on the top. The only difference is that the last card won t be a random card When they cut the order will still be force random force random to the end of the deck except for the last card which now is a force card
@filipehenriques84052 жыл бұрын
It s like as if you removed the last card for them
@ReidFerry2 жыл бұрын
@@filipehenriques8405 ahh got it now, in my head the deck was assembled the other way leaving the force cards together in the middle. Thanks!

Hey Sean! I'm thinking of buying the invisible deck trick and I was wondering if you know (or anyone) if its a reusable trick? For example, I know that it uses a sticky coating to make the cards stick together than pop when spread, so if a spectator chooses, lets say, the 10 of hearts since the coating slides after I spread it can I reuse the 10 of hearts again? Basically my question is the Invisible Deck Trick reusable?

I have done something like the second effect in the past. What's nice about the Svengali deck is that you can say, "If you had dealt one more you would've stopped on... [indifferent card]. Or if you had stopped just one card earlier you would have landed on... [another indifferent card]." Pointing that out completely fries their brains!
@christopher1069 ай бұрын
Great overview Sean and lots of good tips. I'm just having trouble figuring out how you would do 2 tricks in a row since the same card will be selected. Not ideal, although I do like this deck. thoughts anyone?
