my computer is a custom build. it does not have bluetooth or airprint as it's a windows 10 pc. Can I use the printer by manually plugging it into the computer USB or printing from Wifi? I only have photoshop on this pc and not on my old mac laptop.

Hi Andris, it would be worth checking out our newer video about Brother printers with Paul Talbot, as we mention about trapped/chewed up paper and how to resolve it in the troubleshooting section: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZy8h6mnjptkfsk However, you may find that it helps to change the print options, reduce any colour saturation in the reference (causes the carbon to melt) and guide the paper through when printing.

Good afternoon there is a time ago I bought a pocket jet pj722 to use in tattoo stencil I bought the right paper and good quality but the printer ends up wrapping the thermal paper in the printer damaging the paper and printing the printer is new and I would not use it very much to know how to solve this problem ?thanks.

Hi, that's to do with photoshop. What you can do on the printers is change print speed and density, which is available through the Printer Settings Tool.

Hi, some solutions are to clean the rollers, check print density and guide the paper out of the printer while printing, as it can catch if it is not supported. It may also be to do with the reference image. If it is too dark or features a lot of solid colour in the area, it can heat the carbon and cause it to stick.

Hi, please check the roller and make sure to wipe off any excess carbon residue on it. Also, check for firmware updates to ensure that everything is up to date.

Hi Paul, this is a long shot, I am working on an iPad Pro 11” 2020, I don’t know what OS I’m using, so no idea what driver to download for my Brother pocket jet PJ-723 from the brother website any ideas?. Ill be trying to print from procreate or just my picture gallery once my designs are saved. I’m a bit stuck, any help would be amazing.

Hi, if you use the print settings tool, you can change the print speed. This is Brother's own program, so if you don't have it installed already, you can download it from the Brother website.

Im having problems with pixelation when printing.. Any tips for Procreate/Photoshop document sizing from the get go? Or are there any print settings I might be missing? Im pretty sure the density levels are fine cuz everything is coming out really clear, but too clear with the pixels showing on the curves of lines.

Don't forget stencil paper is extremely important. Imo these printer work better with the cheaper stencil papers like the cheaper versions of spirit ( the ones with purple color )

Has anyone had any issues with setting up the 773 on wps on the router? We bought it so it can be connected to the wifi router and used by our artist easily, but holding down the wifi button for 5 secs (like the manual states) does nothing. Is our printer faulty or are we doing something wrong? :(

Hi, there's no heat option, but you can find roller speed if you go to Printer Setting Tool > Device Settings. You can also check that 'stencil mode' is on by going to the maintenance tab. As for the wrinkled paper, ensure that the paper is inserted straight and guided through. Also, regular cleaning of the roller will help prevent carbon build-up, which causes streaks.

Had the pj723 a while and yeah its ok for printing lime work as its simple but if your after a photo quality stencil its useless. Either prints to dark and the light areas dont show up. Cant get my head round how these guys print out perfect images for stencil

I think it's not necessary, if you download the drivers of PJ-773 from brother website and open the app on your desktop you will see all the settings required in it.

We can't really advise on the PJ-762 as we don't stock it, but we've had good feedback on the PJ-773 and PJ-723 when it comes to printing stencils so that's what we would recommend.

I have installed the driver and the printer tool correctly i have redone this various times, trying to get the advanced settings in photoshop for density and print method (halftone) print speed etc.. All attempts have failed! I try opening the print tool downloaded from support page and it tells me that there are no drivers installed. I have installed the drivers numerous times running though a loop.. running on macbook pro 13 latest version software.. Some help please.. I can print with it, but i cant get it to print crisp lines.. it leaves most line work faded or transparent lines of the project are truly black some bold some less but still.. My Chinese fax style thermo printer brings me way better results i am hoping the only reason for this issue is not being able to mess around with those density settings and halftones..

I have seen that the only option the driver brings me in photoshop is supply levels.. and it shows a black strip saying thermal which is useless but it is proof the the driver has been installed..

I got mine yesterday, and was up all night. 😁😂😂 50 sheets later, I downloaded the "firmware" and updated printer settings, so I could set papertype to stencil. And it Works perfect now!!! So happy!! 😁😁

The Brother power brick adapter is 15V - 4A, is too hot for tattoo thermal paper, if you use a 12V - 2A it works a treat. Don't go any lower than 1.5A or it may damage your printer or cause your plug to blow.

hey @killerinktattoo , i'm using your stencil machine for a while now. and i see really strange things happening. sometimes my stencil printer prints a really weak stencil, when other time he prints a banger of a solid stencil (al of the carbon transfered). and i use the "exact" same settings, and i always print lineworks as thick as always. for example today i printed 4 weak mandalas (linework pretty thick and big design) now later today i printed a small black logo( full black) !!same settings!! and it was a solid print like never ever before (all carbon transfered) - for lines i go density 2 -2ply mode -print speed 1.1ips/27mm/s i absolutely do not understand how my prints can be so difrent from time to time with same settings for only line prints. could it be that the machine has to warm up a bit ? can you please help me out on this i did try a lot of things i'm getting kinda desperate now. thanks in advance

my basic way of going is that i draw strong outlines on paper then scan it in the computer , trace it 100% black in photoshop or illustrator(so i have a digital outline) and then i print it, my outlines at at least 1mm thick. i like it very strange that on density 2 i can print a full black logo of 10cm, but when i printed that same day a mandala of +-20 cm outlines 1.5 mm and it did not transfer it as good. maybe a better example. i did print the exact same mandala but 50% smaller and it had 100% transition of the carbon with exact same settings. i wil get in touch through mail :)

well i tried all settings and it prints scripts but doesnt print portraits and especially designs where is lighter and darker areas, jaming paper even on density on low lvl... it is not only my opinion, 3 artist that works with me tried also and they use photoshop more often and yet they still couldnt find right setting ...so 4 script yes, realism, not really

i'm also having trouble with this machine there are not enough tutorials if there are some they are all with mac, so thanks for nothing also the display for printer in Photoshop is complete different so i can not find any settings. i know a lot about photoshop but this is a mess. oh and for those who want to buy it... you need photoshop. alternatives are free programs but goodluck if you cant even find it in photoshop it self i'm going to spend some more frustrating hours trying to make this thing work ffs

hey so far i have go the printer working and i have to take back my words i have said before. the machine works pretty well, i took me a while to configure everything. i found it more easy to download the driver from another website then brother website itself. lucky i have photoshop and illustrator and know how this works but it would be cool to have more reference to alternative programs the Adobe. i'm convinced many others would like this to. i have one more question for you, could i use my brother 723 with an ipad pro using a usb to iPad connection converter ? also think ppl are interested into this ( i have no Bluetooth or wifi connection on my 723) thanks in advance man

Hi, the DS-940DW is a scanner so it doesn't print - it's only for scanning your stencils and documents. You would need one of the PocketJet printers to print out your stencils.
