Amazing as always. Just learnt the definition of Pilot and Clearance holes. And the uses and benefits of it. The Countersink demonstration was cool. There isn't many channel with simple and understandable explanations broken down for people learning just the alphabet of anything related to DIY. Underrated channel. Needs more subscribers, so POUSE can make more money and also have a reason to make more videos to help people learn or just curious.

Excellent presentation. I was putting in a dowel screw (threads on both ends) for a newel post on a hardwood tread that sits on a pine base. The tightening of the post will act as a screw head but I want the thick pine base to do the work. There is also the issue of the screw threads jacking the hardwood plate up and lifting it off the construction adhesive. The clearance hole is something I did not know in 30 years of handy manning. These are the little tricks that the pros know. Thanks so much!

Thanks for this video! You mentioned that the screw should be 3/4 of the way into the lower piece of wood. How long should the screw be if I'm securing a shelf into a concrete wall or a very thick piece of wood.
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, only just seen this message! To answer your question about concrete try my other video how to use wall plugs - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaO5o2mBl7mBl8U. As for wood the heavier the item the longer the penetration of screw. Hope that helps.

Thanks! Is that better than doing a butt joint using only pilot holes?
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE
@POUSEaroundtheHOUSE 4 жыл бұрын
@@AshFromEarth i guess depends how thick it is but a clearance hole is always a bit tidier. Prob be ok with pilot holes. Test it out on a small peice of wood. Good luck!
