Steve, a problem I often have with adaptive cruise control is when you have set a reasonable distance to the vehicle ahead, you’re traveling at a good clip and someone cut’s in front of you. My car does a hard brake which is very problematic to me and the car that may be following me. How does the Lincoln Aviator system respond to this situation?

It's a safety feature for all manufacturers based on your selected range. If someone cuts you off it would want to create a safe distance so if you want to avoid the hard braking the only things I could recommend would be to brake yourself when you see it happens and then reactivate your cruise control or quickly change to the closest distance so the braking isn't too hard

Can you turn off the adaptive aspect? Auto braking has almost killed me a few times
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
Yes you can - it would be done through the media screen under Driver Assistance. Here are some full tech how-tos that cover off that and more: Corsair: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iobGoJSIdsd0bcU Nautlus: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpa1k5R9gNWtadE Aviator: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aV68gmd7hciIaLs Navigator: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXTMo6d4fJmgZrs

You did not talk much about the stalk button. What does it do Different?

Stalk button.. as in the distance indicator?
@sollieutube2 жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve The button on the end of the stalk (left side of steering wheel ), you mentioned it also affects lane control. What does it do specifically and different than the lane control button on the right side of the steering wheel. You call it lane keeping? at -9.19 in tme 1.45 or so into your video…

@@sollieutube Ah, yes the button on the tip of the turn stick is for the lane keeping system. I dive into it in videos where I talk about steering wheel/cluster screens. What Lincoln do you have? In a nutshell, the system activates around 64 km/h and when lane markings are recognized. If you start to veer into another lane without signaling it will either shake the steering wheel, nudge you back into your lane or do both.

Can you explain the tolerance level
@crpeterson012 жыл бұрын
oh I have the aviator
@CarsWithSteve2 жыл бұрын
@@crpeterson01 Of course! Touch on it briefly but here's a summary: In the media screen, whether that's Sync3 or Sync4, you have the option to change cruise control to regular Adaptive or Intelligent Cruise. With Intelligent Cruise, you can then set the Tolerance level. Let's say you have the tolerance set at 0 and your adaptive cruise control is turned on and set at 60 mph. If the road speed drops (with a posted speed sign that is recognized) from 60 to 50 it will automatically decrease you to that speed because the tolerance is set at 0. If tolerance was set at 10 and that same change in road speed happens, there would be no change because you've set it to tolerate a change of 10 It goes both ways too.. so if the speed increases through a posted sign it will pick you up to that posted speed instead
