Please NOTE: This may not work for some. the beauty of homeschooling is that every families needs are unique and we get to tailor it to work for us. This is not how we did it at the beginning when they were able to go faster. If your child is really struggling with a concept it may need to be retaught or to be taught in a different way by practicing with letter tiles or other tools so feel free to make this your own. It’s also important to note that while they do work independently from me on spelling several days a week it is still with some oversight because you totally need to assess if more instruction is needed or different tools need to be used. I should have mentioned this in the video so I just wanted to clarify that.

Absolutely! Anything that you can do to make it so that your kids can push a button and repeat what you have said instead of asking you to repeat yourself is definitely some thing that you should do. Why didn’t I think about doing this for spelling words?

You are so tech-savvy, to think of making an audio recording, so that they can be more independent throughout the week! We've never tried All About Spelling before, we've been doing Spelling U See...for our current stage, my best tip for doing spelling tests when you have a LOT of kids is to have kids give spelling tests to each other. We have a wide range of ages, and that's worked well for us! Not as helpful if your kids are at similar reading/spelling levels, though. :)

Yes I understand I am curious also if it will work well with my daughter with special needs. She is technically supposed to start in the fall but we may just play it by ear since I already have the material I will probably give it a try but not sweat it if it doesn't work out.

I love this! I really like AAS but I have just started schooling my 4th kid and have been overwhelmed by the thought of all the spelling lessons. I love the thought of recording the words for the kids. I went to sign up for Spelling City (which is usually $35) and they have merged with another program and it's now $110. Do you have any other cheaper suggestions?

It worked great when I was working with multiple kids in the same program. Now I just have one child in this program so I just do the lessons in person instead of recording because he is moving through them so fast and doesn’t need a full week to work on a list.

This isn't about the topic, but it's something else I've been struggling with starting and I was hoping you might have some advice. My therapists strongly recommend I set up picture schedules for our boys at home. Any that they have sent home that I've used with my boys, but later change to simplify or just put in a better order makes them so frustrated with me... I feel like the schedules I make have to be just perfect or it's more drama than it's worth... Do you just make that a life lesson and roll with it? Or have any tips on how you might deal with it? I'm sorry if I'm asking a lot...
@LifeintheMundane2 жыл бұрын
Oh no worries I love questions. I like to use Lessonpix.com for making picture schedules and I like to make them individual cards so I can easily move things around without extra printing. I have done some videos on them here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKC9pGZphamJibs

Does the All About Spelling Levels correspond to grade level?
@LifeintheMundane4 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily they recommend you start with Level 1 regardless to make sure you avoid gaps but you can see what is taught in this book and if you feel like your child has a strong grasp on these concepts you could move to the next level. Here is the site where you can find more info www.allaboutlearningpress.com/all-about-spelling-level-1/

How young can one start for all about spelling ?

It’s recommended to start level 1 after completing AAR 1 so around 1st or 2nd grade
