I am coming back to say thank you for the warm pads you made availible for us to use. I am the sound-guy in our church, and use it on my phone through an sterio auxiliry jack cable, from the back into the desk, and we do worshiop like this now, for over a year now! Even if there is just an accustic and bass, it fills it in, and creates an ambient drone, that helps the congregation to participate in the freeworship. It just breaks that awkward silences between the instumentation of the band.

I use a Korg Kronos at church. There are many pads in this keyboard already. I also own Omnisphere and have sampled over a dozen sounds from it to the Korg. Animating pads has been my recent endeavor. There are a number of techniques available in the Kronos for that. It keeps it interesting.😎

This was a helpful video. Thanks guys! Just want to add here (and it's just a suggestion), you don't have to use software on your computer, you can use your iPad or iPhone... I have a few synth apps on my phone that have plenty of rich pad sounds - some of these apps are for free! Two of the free apps that I like to use are: Yamaha FM Essential, and Yamaha Synth Book (for synth sounds use the AN2015 in the app). I also use a few different Moog type apps (Animoog and MiniMoog Model D are both a $5.99 app store purchase), and two other apps; the Korg iMono/Poly and Moog Model 15. They're both a $29.99 in the app store, but well worth the money - lots of lush pads to choose from!

Good video! but you guys forgot to mention that its good to use an audio interface because if you have an older or mediocre laptop, certain sounds will lag after a while of playing live using the built in sound card, especially when you wanna layer certain sounds. Thumbs up this tip, its important because what happened to me when I was playing live was not fun, audio driver crashing, slowing down the software etc..there many awesome cheap audio interfaces out there that will work
@hermandormehl8827
@hermandormehl8827 2 жыл бұрын
I was concidering this! But does the audio interface have to plug in to the USB, to be able to take the load of, from the internal soundcard? Else, if it just plugs in to the laptop's earphone jack, it will just act like a DI box?

Hi guys! Thanks for the vid. Quick question- how do I stop sounding like the "pad player" just holds one key through the entire song. Some musicians complain about it sounding monotonous
@MRlegofreak777777
@MRlegofreak777777 5 жыл бұрын
maybe use different pads for different songs? i mean, if you already got a keyboard player and you're the pad player, then you are the pad player. But if you are a keys player who adds pads by himself: You dont always need pads. They get boring if they're overused. I hope that helped you :)

All that stuff around 6:32 is probably the reason I would not use pads. The most powerful moments emotionally, for want of a better word, in my experience are moments of utter silence when the sense of God's presence has caused all to be silent. God is always present. As a musician, songwriter and worship leader, I love the idea of using pads, but we can deliberately not use them as well.

DRONE? Like in Indian religious music?
@MarcTelesha
@MarcTelesha 5 жыл бұрын
Yes and bag pipes, banjo music (the 5th string that isn't fretted normally), church organ music specifically pedals. Played throughout the world it is just a term that states a chord or note that is repeatedly played throughout the song. I am only guessing but you are thinking drone is some music type not to be associated with worshiping God? Gregorian Chant is also a drone. Probably the early church hymns and songs were drone music without instrumentation. Early Church didn't not use instruments and that tradition stayed strong till around 4th to 6th century. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5zJqJuunrF6rNU In music, a drone is a harmonic or monophonic effect or accompaniment where a note or chord is continuously sounded throughout most or all of a piece. The word drone is also any part of a musical instrument that is used to produce such an effect, as is the archaic term burden (bourdon or burdon) such as a "drone [pipe] of a bagpipe", the pedal point in an organ, or the lowest course of a lute. Α burden is also part of a song that is repeated at the end of each stanza, such as the chorus or refrain.

Fading the first musician into the second one during your example at 9:15 kind of defeats the purpose of demonstrating how pads can help mediocre players sound better. Would have loved to hear the first guy all the way through for the sake of the experiment.
