How To Use An 1176 Compressor: The Basics

Learn the basics of using the 1176 compressor for your hip-hop tracks, from how to set it up, to when it's a good fit, to why it's an essential tool for achieving the perfect sound.
HOW TO USE AN 1176 COMPRESSOR
I use the Waves CLA-76 in this video to work on three sounds (listed below). However, you can use any 1176 emulator that you'd like, and you can obviously use this compressor on more sounds than just these three. This was meant to be a tutorial for those who want to learn the basics of the 1176 and how/when/why to use it.

Can I ask, how do you possibly hear the differemce between 1 milisecond and 1 microsecond (thats the slowest and fastest attack times) theyre both virtually instant.

I think engineers just are able to hone in and hear the timing difference. Every engineer I've worked with seems to be able to tell without even looking at the comp if the attack/release is off. Idk bro maybe they are wizards or reptilians or something 😂
