I just want to say thank you. Thank you for providing a to the point tutorial without any cheezy 80's music in the background. I am a cosmetologist of 18 years who has just now been working on offering acrylic nail services to my menu. I have been trying to find videos to freshen up what I learned in school long ago and it has been difficult to find a video personality I can stand. I love the way you just tell it like it is and you have a much nicer voice than a lot of video nail techs :)

Great video! I am just learning or trying to learn to do my own nails at home. I bought an E. drill and now I know why I keep sliding around and under the end of my nail! These are really good tips! Thank you. My biggest challenge is that I have arthritic hands and fingers so I don't have the flexibility in my wrists and fingers that someone who doesn't have arthritis enjoys. I am determined to learn to do it though...and I have invested a lot of money in my drill and supples! :) so I can't give up...or won't give up! HaHa. My experience in a salon has not been good...the techs we have around here don't speak English very well and can't understand that they are hurting me when they twist my fingers! That's one of the reasons I am learning to do it myself! Thank you so much for your videos!

Hi Sharon, Good for you for learning how to do your own nails.You can do this despite your arthritis, just take it slow with the drill and let the bit do the work. Thanks so much for watching!

Don't give up Shannon. I have RA too. That's why I started doing my own nails. Many of the Nail Tech's in my area don't have a clue how painful you joints can be. Sadly the don't speak English either. It took me a long time to learn the ins/outs of an e-file. These tips are new. You will be awesome

Do you have any videos to help out with a step by step correct process on using gel for building and painting? Including detailed information regarding how to know which gel is the best quality (regarding stickiness of the gel etc) as well as how important the wattage is on the UV/LED lamp is. Watching videos on here give great information but when you actually try using gel it just doesn't dry completely and is sticky even when using a non wipe top coat. I went to beauty school back in 77 when acrylics just came out and I've done my nails since. I never stayed in the hair industry so I never kept up with updates. I just started getting back to doing my nails and trying to get into the gel. Can you suggest where I can gather more info or if you have anything? I've tried posting but the technicians I've run into are very adamant about sharing information with people that don't have a license. Thanks for your time.

great advice by the way have you tried the new ceramic bits for nails. I was wondering if those are superior to carbide bits or work the same. thanks

Would you say going up and down with the efile can also create the ridges in the line of light? May be going from side to side would help smooth out those ridges. Also for beginners, wouldn't you suggest using sanding bands instead of a carbide bit? Wouldn't that be a little safer?
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
Ermelinda Benitez I prefer going up and down I dont get ridges. Perhaps side to side works too.It's whatever works for you. In the video I did suggest beginners start with a sanding band. Thanks for watching.

hi there can you go back an forth across the nail or do you go only in one direction
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
hydratedcurls Its best to go in one direction because you dont want to "saw" into the nail and cause burning sensation to client. Also when you have a drill that has forward and reverse it will only work efectively in one direction either forward or reverse so going in the opposite direction wont do much of anything in my experience. Thanks for watching.

Hi, Bobby, even though you may see techs using these kind of drills they have too much power and are not made for nails even if it does have the same watts. In my opinion just best to stick with drills made for nails. thanks for watching.

@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean how to file the cuticle area?
@luvjones4dasoul7 жыл бұрын
New Nail Tech Success yes ma am. Even as far as acrylic application. When I do my nails. It lifts around the cuticle area, and then my hair, wash cloths and other items get snagged. Is it the way I apply the acrylic? Is it the acrylic itself?
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
_Lauren_Hi if you are doing a good nail prep then its the applicatkon. You need to make sure you are leaving a tiny gap at the cuticle area then file the cuticle with a fine bit to seal it. Hope this helps.

while it is nice to have an e-file with forward and reverse. I do not think it is absolutely necessary. when I started doing this 10 years ago the only drills in my price range ran clockwise or "right-handed" that was it! so I taught myself to use the drill I had. after so many years of doing it that way. weather on myself or anyone else I find I cannot use the machine I have now in reverse.
