The diamond bits (the bits referred to as cheap) are great prep bits. They are great for removing cuticle on the nail bed and closing off hang nails. Also they can exfoliate rough skin around the nail plate and make it smooth. I never cared for them before until I found use for them, now I use them with every set.

Hiya Rita! The stem that you show first is to be kept in your hand piece during storage. It will protect the chuck if the hand piece is dropped. The diamond bits are safe for natural nails. The small football shape is great for removing remaining pterygium after pushing cuticles. I purchased a wire brush that looks like a pen, the wires can be retracted when not being used, from Atwood Industries. I love it, it cleans the bits and they work like new again. I also soak them in acetone or brush remover to keep them debris free. I haven't purchased any ceramic bits yet, thanks for giving some info on them. Bits can be a big investment, it's important to know which will work and not just sit in a drawer. Thank you for sharing! I always look forward to your videos :-)

U are extremely pleasant to listen to, u seem positive and knowledgeable, however, I am watching to understand what each bit does and I TOTALLY understand wanting to do the job right, and doing so with the tools u use to do so. Unfortunately when you said "These are the cheap bits that came with the drill!" I know you are displeased with those cheap ones, but as a beginner, having just purchased the machine those "cheap ones" are all I have and I want to know how to use them and what they're used for. But, thanks, I'm gonna scroll to see if you have anything that will help me, cause like I said, so far I enjoyed watching your videos! Have a blessed day! 😎

Jamie Callaway Hi Jamie by no means did I say "cheap bits that came with the drill to discourage you" or sound like a snob. . I only meant that for me they do not do a good job taking down or shaping the acrylic. By all means try them out to get used to your drill and buy better bits as you see fit and can afford to. I am all about saving a buck when I can as this can get very expensive. Hope I clarified things.

This is a very educational video! I did not know the bits had size numbers: 332. Good to know. I will say I saw someone state that nails are different ie, some people have softer nails and some people hard nails, so perhaps those bits you don't use, might be useful for the soft nailed people. @NewNailTechSuccess5 жыл бұрын
Is the drill that you are using, the one that hangs down with the foot paddle, for nails? Because if it's not then this could be the reason why. All nails only drills work with the 3/32 bit that is the the industry standard. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

If any of your bits are shredding acrylic, that acrylic is NOT dry yet. Using any bit too soon will shred it, I know, I used to do only one nail at a time and was inpatient. If you do at least three at a time, you can find the first one ready. Also, everyone needs to know that with acrylic it takes 24-48 hours for it to FINAL CURE, which means it is subject to loosing pinching and breakage which can happen with thin nail beds where the client is wearing them too long. I also love all drill bits, including the ones coming with the cheap drills since all cheap drills for are home manicures and pedicures and not intended to be used for heavy acrylic work, it works fine for gel as gel is soft and easy to file, so don’t throw out those drill bits.I use sanding bands for natural nails as well as the stone bit, at the end of the day it’s all about a persons level of experience and practice.

With your favorite Calbine bit do you put the sandpaper one on top? Or how do you clean it between different people?
@NewNailTechSuccess5 жыл бұрын
The sandpaper band is only used one time. You get a new one for each client. The carbide bits are disinfected. You should have at least 2 disinfected bits you use the most. Then you will always have a disinfected to use between clients.

Great videos I have watched quite a few tonight and subscribed! So for the extra fine and fine bits you mentioned you just bought at the end of the video can I use those on natural nails? I am looking for a bit to use to do my cuticle areas on my feet and hands before applying gel polish or fake nails. Then can i just use the medium sanding bits to take off some of the gel polish when I am removing it? I have been just soaking it off with acetone but that is such a pain and time consuming! Thank you for taking the time to teach us!
@NewNailTechSuccess6 жыл бұрын
Crystal Bradley You can use the fine sanding band to remove the shine but go lightly and try to go over it only once so that you don't thin the nail. To remove gel polish you will need a coarse CARBIDE bit not a coarse sanding band, which I have in the description of this video. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

Hi! I found this video very useful. I have a few questions. 1 i know that we're supposed to take the shine off of the natural nails for any gel or acrylic purposes, but are we supposed to make sure the nail is rough too or is it okay for them to be kept smooth; does it effect how the acrylic/gel sticks? 2 which bit would you say you'd use on your acrylic nail to prep for painting the nail with regular polish vs. gel (fine, medium, course) (ceramic, carbide, etc)
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
Sabrina Hi Removing the shine is enough no need to rough up the nail bed because you don't want to make it too thin. Using a dehydrator and nail prep will be enough. For regular polish and gel on natural nails I don't use a bit but just a buffer to smooth nail bed for easy application. Hope this helps.
@myranda00592 жыл бұрын
Nail shouldn’t be shiny, gel doesn’t adhere to shiny surfaces, acrylic really only needs Acid primer but I always put down a clear bead so I don’t need to constantly remove everything when I change designs etc. a regular sanding band (fine) is good enough for preparing the nail, just make sure if you are using gel it is a non acid primer, and with acrylic it is an Acid primer on the nail bed.

Sorry about the delay. I had never heard of wool bits so I had to research it. Wool bits are bits that you can use to file acrylic like other bits but the are said to be softer than other products, protecting your nails during polishing and create less dust with little friction and heat. Thanks for bringing these to my attention I may have to try these and do a review.

That sounds like it might be a buffer bit.

Hello, i purchased a nail drill but the drill bit i purchased will not fit inside the hole.
@NewNailTechSuccess6 жыл бұрын
You need to make sure that the nail bit is the correct bit size for the drill. Most nail drills will take a 3/32 bit.
@meeshmeesh35106 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks thats the size bit i have .. do they come smaller than that?
@NewNailTechSuccess6 жыл бұрын
@@meeshmeesh3510 They do. But for my drill only a 3/32 works. Make sure you have the shaft twisted open so the bit will fit in.

I may have to purchase another nail drill. It was linked to someones nail channel along with the drill bit. This drill i have doesn't twist open, you just stick the drill in. Thanks so much for your response.

Question....and if you find time to answer thank you lol. I purchased a tapered carbide bit medium grit for product removal cut down etc, and also I thought that it may be used after product application to make the cuticle flush but found it to ruin the application some what so I recently purchased a flame bit find grit in high hopes to achieve a flush cuticle....so my question is am I correct on the proper use of these bits? And for the flame bit fine grit will it achieve my goal? If not could you help me understand the proper uses or how to achieve my flush cuticle goal please!!!! Thanks

Hello. I had the same problem with the bit ruining the application at the cuticle so I don't use a bit in that area but instead try to make the cuticle area flush when I apply the cuticle ball. Maybe this video will help you.kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=01q-aknQTuM

I've seen sanding bands sized as 80",120",180",and sometimes even 100"..Which ones should I order for myself? D:
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
Esorah Hi the lower the number the coarser it is the higher the number the softer to start a 180 should be good then go higher or lower if you need to.

I come to find out the grit of each band and which is coarse and which is a finer grit.o Essentially what the grits of nail fillers are, I forgot I do know 180 is coarse. I think So I'm assuming 80 grit is finer. I think.lol
@NewNailTechSuccess5 жыл бұрын
An 80 grit is coarser than an 180. With files and buffers the higher the number the SOFTER the grit. And the lower the number the ROUGHER the grit. Thanks for watching.

Sanding bands are suppose to be used when you fill in gel nails? I hate when my nail tech uses them. They just run it across my cutcicles, that hurts. Can I ask her to use something else?
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
JustSimply Marie It's no rule that they have to use a sanding band for fill ins. And yes you can ask them to use something else or just be careful. Sorry this happens to you. A service should never be painful.
@simpsonmarie47 жыл бұрын
Thank you. What else can I ask them to use?
@NewNailTechSuccess7 жыл бұрын
JustSimply Marie They can usd the safety bit like the one I showed in the video. It won't hurt the skin.
@simpsonmarie47 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I will ask her next time to use the safety bit.
