By the way, at 4:44 if yours still says 60hz, check to make sure that the resolution option 1920 x 1080 is selected under "PC" rather than "Ultra HD, HD, SD". That's what was keeping mine at 60hz, but it was fixed once I changed it.

Do note that this does not work for monitors that are 2560x1440p @ 144hz or higher. It will only work for 1920x1080p up to 200hz or similar. Personally had to downscale to 1080p on the 1440p.

The moment you clone the monitor to the elgato or ANY capture system that is not capable of passing more than 60 Hz through it , on SOME games you WILL be limited to 60 Hz regardless of your 144Hz monitor settings especially if you use borderless instead of full screen.

@@RealStudBrownie I resorted to using OBS Studio on the capture card "monitor" and not streaming it at all, just there to get the image with display capture from the main screen. Then full screen projecting my OBS on my "2nd monitor." And its near perfect besides the 0.3% CPU usage. Then going to sound settings and making the output for OBS to be my capture card, then in OBS going to audio and making sure the input is my headset, then advanced audio properties on the desktop audio in OBS, change it to monitor and mute output. Makes the image and sound go through flawlessly. Just a lot of work and I had to "invent" this method, someone else may have done this but i dont know for sure, to get it work, but by golly it works!

Then right clicked the video on OBS, went to Fullscreen Projection, and projected it onto my "2nd monitor" which is the capture card that runs into OBS on my stream PC. Uses 0.1% of my CPU on my game PC to send the picture like that.

Mine is giving me loads of issues. First thing I noticed is when you right click the speaker icon on the taskbar, click Sounds it brings up the Sounds window. When I go to click on the other tabs at the top like "Playback, Recording, Sounds, Communications. When you click on any of these, I now have a 1-2 second delay for some reason. Restarted PC, same thing. Also when I went into CS:GO, I had my game is Fullscreen. I had it running high frames in game while playing. My PC has crashed twice now, it wasn't a BSoD, it just rebooted itself. The other thing is when I play games and go to alt + tab, or press the Windows key(either way works) it will always go into a black screen for about 4-5 seconds. Then when I want to go back to the game it's a black screen for 4-5 seconds also. Since this has happened, I went into my display settings, turned off the "3rd display" being the Elgato. I have two 24" Curved 144Hz monitors of the same model. I disabled the Elgato, I unplugged my HDMI cable I had running from my GPU HDMI port to my Elgato HDMI Input. I don't have delayed tabbing in and out of games anymore after doing that, however I DO still have the delayed Sounds tab's for some reason. I have good PC specs so don't blame it on my specs, I have never had any problems before until I tried this video exactly how you showed it. I haven't seen anyone else address this issue so maybe someone has the same issue as me and can help me out.

I also didn't mention, another thing was when I put a game into "Fullscreen Windowed", it turned my 144Hz display in game to 60 FPS(60Hz) for some reason. The fact my PC had these problems and rebooted itself while playing pissed me off.

I also want to make this clear, I am not blaming you for these issues. I'm just addressing it that way someone who sees this might also have this same issue and someone out there can help me out. I just paid for a $162 Capture Card. I know the capture card is fine, it's something to do with my settings somehow and I know there's a fix for it all. I want to play 144Hz on my main display while being able to record using the capture card at 60Hz for 60FPS footage. Another thing I haven't mentioned, how do I even force my OBS to record using the Elgato? When I look at my task manager when it's recording, it's still using my GPU to encode, I need it to be using the capture card, that's the whole reason I got it, wtf?

It sounds like you’re running out of VRAM. Keep in mind this setting turns the elgato it a cloned monitor. Plus the card was originally designed for 1080p 60hz so forcing it to 144hz isn’t always the best option. The delay is completely normal is it is changing the settings in real time. I’ve got used to the delay. You’re altering a card that is not made to run on the frequency for say so that’s the lag you endure but the input lag when recording/ streaming is nonexistent so it’s worth the delay.

make sure you have multiple monitors setup in nvidia control panel bc it needs to know what to do, also make sure thr dsp cable works properly and you change input. Also make sure the main display is the dsp cable from the gtx 1080ti and not the hdmi

make sure your drivers are updated and you configure the elgato before you plug in the dsp cable bc it needs to know to clone with your main one. The elagto should act as a second monitor instead of the main one

Yes this is normal as I stated it in the video. Games can only be played in Fullscreen to override the Elgato. This happens because the 60HZ Elgato is cloned to the 144HZ+ monitor which is overridden in fullscreen but not in windowed. Hence the 60FPS feeling and it takes 5-10 second becasue you're converting to different refresh rates in constant time. It is annoying at first but you get used to it. I prefer it over input lag!

The tutorial seems to work, and my elgato says 144hz like at 4:45 but running UFO fps test it is visually definitely still at 60fps. To be clear, ufo fps says it is 144, but I have another 144hz moniter to my left and ufo fps is very clearly worse fps on my main monitor that is cloned with the elgato

So I bought this Elgato 4k60 Pro today. My monitor is only capable of 1440p 144hz max. I connected it with two HDMI cables. (HDMI IN > Elgato) and (HDMI out > to Monitor). When I go to display settings it says my native resolution is that of my graphics card RTX 3070 which is 3840 x 2160. IF I change both to 1440p and then restart my PC it will lock it to 1440p. However, its as if the Elgato doesn't even know its connected and it will not work. I have a green screen when I open OBS as well and can only see the top left corner of my active monitor. I'm starting to wonder if the way you have it connected in your video "using Display Port cable" is the only way to get this to work? I know my monitor came with one but I cant find it lol. So right now I'm trying to get this to work and banging my head against the wall.

tend to get a bit more fps and it gets rid of input lag that is caused by OBS's screen capture. For many people running 60HZ monitors it isnt noticeable but on a 144Hz 1ms monitor the slightest bit of input lag in some games make or break it.

Make sure you change your audio to filter through one channel in the elgato software and then change your windows main audio to the elgato output. I highly suggest using a software the voicemeter to filter and run audio channels. But you can record both depending on how you capture audio.
