Nice to see an low level explanation of an oscilloscope. As a starter you don't need such an high end oscilloscope to start with. Especially one that you will probably going to smoke when you try your first electronic experiments and don't realize that the grounds on the oscilloscope is a short.

Thank you for uploading, your video was fun to watch and it really brought me back to those days (well, 2 mind-growing/warping years!) of my life learning all of the interesting electronics technology field of degree; where the oscilloscope were definitely one of reading or analyzing instruments we utilized in our professor classroom/lab which played a vital role in our entire graduating class success during the years I am speaking of. Your video kept me engaged and locked in, maybe find another KZbin profile to subscribe to for added, and alternative source of re-invigorating material to sharpen my mind with, even as a refresher. I will check out more of your videos for sure from time to time, when my life is more timely and manageable of course

Never got into electronics in college and one of the things I disliked was the Oscilloscope. Why? Because I never understood them, never really understood what you'd use them for and most of all they were all analog scopes back in the 90s in college. This made them look so old fashioned and bored me. But ever since I've seen the digital ones, I've always wanted one. No idea what I'd use it for but watching people that know what they are doing makes it more interesting. Watching MikesElectricStuff using it to see code from a chip etc.

What would be a good cheap scope for checking a 0-50mA signal at a machine at work? It runs at 0.1hz to 10hz. We have an issue with the machine and would like to see if I have a good control signal. What would the signal look like. I haven't used a scope before.

You could potentially do more with a few oscilloscopes that actually operate as a Linux computer internally, meaning they obviously got room to expand beyond the way they were originally designed to do so (Linux OS also allows for hardware drivers and apps in Assembly if you prefer to do it the hard way).

You touched on the right points in the video, but your explanation was a bit too fast. You pretty much breezed through the demonstration of each feature. So, it's really hard to follow the steps (like which menu items you were selecting, etc). A good video, just wish you had taken a bit more time to explain the stuff.
